OnTheEllipse
I purchased a used Stealthbox and it came with a few washers and a bolt. The installation PDF on JL's site doesn't mention any washers or nuts and also doesn't mention them in the parts list. It simply says to back out the screw and the box will wedge itself to the car. Reading through the old group buy thread, I see people talking about bolts and washers. Are people doing this for extra security or is it necessary to keep the box in place? Boulderguy
Think about if you slam on the brakes...it needs to be anchored or it'll decapitate you. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/11177.pdf - it bolts thru the tail light assembly.
OnTheEllipse
Those are the directions I'm reading, but it makes no mention of bts/nuts/washers on the threaded bolt
Boulderguy
sounds like someone swapped hardware on you. it should be a set-screw-type bolt (headless), not a hex-head bolt.
OnTheEllipse
sounds like someone swapped hardware on you. it should be a set-screw-type bolt (headless), not a hex-head bolt. The bolt I have is headless and has a spot or an Allen key on one side. I thinks its the correct part. I see no mention of nuts or washers in the JL manual. I'm wondering if anyone uses a nut on that bolt and if so, was this your own choice or do you have different directions than are on JL's site? OnTheEllipse
No one has installed a stealtbox here?
Boulderguy
Probably no one's used a nut & washer. You shouldn't need them.
