sandwood
I guess it was just a matter of time before I posted something here after going stage 2 with my AP. anyway, I foolishly gave up whatever limited advantage I might have had by going from a roll in first gear. twice. the mustang immediately jumped about two cars ahead, but did not pull out in front much from there. both times I went about half way into fourth gear before quitting. it was a 2004 svt cobra, MT, guy said he had done "a few things" to it, but I didn't find out what. It was loud as hell though. I actually thought this was a respectable go, and if I had really gone from a dead stop, it would have been a little closer. iirc, a stock cobra should be under 5 seconds to 60, 1/4 in around 13 seconds. getting out of the legacy game
mmm def
yeah even a high 12 for a great driver, those things are scary fast. I raced one in my chipped S4, he didn't downshift enough or underestimated my S4, once he figured out what gear to put it in I was toast. He probably had an upgraded pulley or something. PGT
Those cars will but down 400whp with $2K in mods, so I'd say that was pretty impressive Alex.
sandwood
yeah, I wasn't displeased. it was also mid-90s out, and that probably hurt me more than him. immediately had me thinking about IC upgrades again though. sigh getting out of the legacy game

sandwood
if it's a stock cobra? I don't see why not. I think our car with an 18g turbo, upgraded IC and proper tuning should be capable of it. modified cobras? wait until it rains, or better yet, snows. or there's a curve in the road. or do what chucktoo is doing with his XT! getting out of the legacy game
PGT
instead of water injection for power, the next great mod would be nozzles mounted under the car than spray water on the rear tires of the guy next to you.
Jay Jay
I'll be the first in line to buy those nozzles! I have a good friend w/ an 04 camelean cobra that enjoys smokin' me a little too much.
Penguin
Can a Cobra be beat, well sure wait for rain or snow. Besides you can't fit four adults in there comfortably and go on a trip. If you wanted a drag racer you could have bought one, we have an all around good car.

sandwood
yeah, 02s FMIC wd still likely fall a bit behind a cobra though, all other things being equal, at least until he had a custom tune. I don't know what kind of power 02's car is making, but I'd be very surprised if it's 300hp/tq to the wheels, which is what it looks like an 18g turbo and TMIC can make. I'm puzzling over this tradeoff a lot. perrin TMIC and 18g = maybe $2000 installed (don't think I wd tackle the turbo install myself, but maybe) FMIC is maybe $1500 installed, I wd not tackle the install myself. Sti TMIC and intake manifold, sti compatible turbo -- ? maybe also $1,500-2,000 installed. all these setups wd require a custom tune. Can't figure out which direction to go in. getting out of the legacy game

sandwood
as a matter of fact, changing out the brake fluid soon, then a friday at the track session at summit point on July 15. then reevaluate brakes again (maybe a pad upgrade), and THEN think about more hp! getting out of the legacy game
HansGT
I think the FMIC has more potential then the top mount. Perrins adds 10-15 hp. With FMIC on WRX's HP can increase by 35 hp. The FMIC has about 50% more surface area and does not have to deal with as much engine heat. Plus, its getting a lot more cool air then the top mount and the tiny hood scoop. Not a cheap option by any means, but If you go to bigger turbo's and extensive mods, then I think a FMIC would do better.legacynobumper.pdflegacynobumper.pdf

I decided to purchase a Lachute uppipe (advice from a more than capable vendor) and decided to wait on the COBB dp. MDTURBO
Hey guys, my two cents... I've beaten Mustang GT's with ease. Even an older 96 cobra with a lot of ease. lol... srt-4s, sti wrx's, evo's, 350z, ... all at the track and some on the street. The newer 03-04 supercharged cobras will beat me no doubt although I have not raced one. My car runs 13.1 @ 104. With that mph, I should be somewhere around 260-270whp. Roughly 38-48 more hp at the wheels than the rated 250 fwhp. These are all calculations though based of the 1/4 MPH, so they're not fact... but they coencide with what the idividual gains of the modifcations I've made have been shown to make by others' on the dyno. With a tune, and another 1psi I should see another 20 whp putting me darn close to the 300whp goal of mine, using stock vf40 and stock intake manifold. :O) -Rob 2012 Forester XT. sandwood
Deadbolt quoted me a price of $1,600 on an 18G, which I am trying to make sure is the actual price. If that is the case, I won't be going that route for quite some time. Seems overpriced to me. would be better to do the FMIC or go for an STi TMIC and intake manifold and get a STi type turbo. Anyway, beating modified '04 cobras is not my goal here, but I am tempted to bump up power a bit from what I have now. getting out of the legacy game
