Other shift knobs?

New to the forum. Just got my Atlantic Blue LGT last week. I was curious if anyone had tried any other momo shift knobs, or just the one available from Subaru? I searched the forum, but couldn't really find anything on alternative knobs. I was wondering if the Momo F-16 shift knob would install ok, and if it was comfortable (it looks closer to what I had in my old car).

Basically any momo knob should screw on unless its made for a USDM car.. there are some that will say they are specifically threaded for subaru for a tighter fit but those are few and far beteween outside of OEM subaru knobs and replicas.

regardless the f16 should thread right up they sell it on faswrx.com

Any of the Momo knobs will fit, but they don't screw on*. They use a rubber boot that slips over the top of the shift rod and 3 set screws in the base of the knob that hold the knob on.

*the authentic "Subaru" marked Momo knob does screw on.

Wouldn't it be better to get a weighted knob? I want it to feel heavy and throw itself into place while I am shifting. I don't think the MOMO knob is weighted...

I prefer a leather one so my hand doesn't get burned...I really like a couple of the Momo ones, but they are not as heavy and are twice as expensive.

Maybe I WILL have to go with Greddy knob...

I'll keep looking.

I use a sun shade everytime my car is parked and in the sun so it isn't a problem :)

Why is it so difficult to find a leather-wrapped HEAVY shift knob that is round? All the heavy ones are bare metal or a weird shape.

Does anyone know of a brand that carries this type of shift knob? I want it to look like the Momo full leather one, but be heavy like the Greddy counter-weighted one.

For some reason, my GReddy CounterWeight (installed on my TSi) never got hot to the touch - even in full sunlight on a summer day. Warm, yes, but nowhere near the "burning hot" that my MOMO Aluminum Race did.

I have no earthly idea why this was so.....

As for a heavy leather knob, I'm clueless. :( Best of luck!

Thanks for the info - I guess I just want a knob that looks luxurious with a bit of sportiness...not necessarily a racer-looking knob. But I do want it to be heavy. If I was sure the Momo knob was heavier than the stock knob I have on now, I would buy it.

But you give me reason to consider the Greddy...
