Robdownunder
IMHO those orange indicators look too busy, too overpowering cosmetically, too pronounced for this car compared to the Japanese and Aussie ones in clear. I realise it must be a federal requirement for you over there but I'd like your opinions. Rob in clear.

Jedi Pimp
Yes it is a DOT requirement for us to have the orange markers. But some of us have taken them out of the headlight assemblies via the magic of baking!!!
Robdownunder
I didn't know you could do that with the Legacy? I seen it done on the new STI 05 WRx's.

I see threads about people removing them in a lot of forums, anything ever happen as a result?

melayout
When someone hits your frontend from the side at night, they can claim you are at-fault because if the mandated side reflectors weren't removed, he/she could have seen you car and hence avoid it. DAP
Those orange things are reflectors. Removing them gives you a slightly higher chance of being hit when your car is parked in the dark. I'd like to get rid of the orange, but I'd only do it if I could replace them with clear reflectors.
Xenonk
JDM loves amber, so I am keeping mine as it is I am tired of the ricer-clear out fad.. it's getting old. If the dealership did it and came like that stock, no big deal, they'll stick an amber bulb as is. But since it didnt came that way, I'll keep the car with the reflector in place. There's a certain presence with having functional parts on the car. (oh yea, and so that Johnny Law doesn't pick on me for having an illegal car too). TSiWRX
Like many here have said, whether or not you'll get singled out for enforcement for having non-amber fronts is typically a local "attitude" issue. If your local traffic enforcers really hate on import sport-compact tuners, then it's more likely that you'll get some grief....not typically jail time unless you're doing something go-to-jail stupid (i.e. street racing), but definitely a warning and maybe a citation. You can avoid night-time and low-visibility trouble by simply using a bulb that appears clear/silver when off - but turns yellow/amber when on. The need for amber reflectors up front is typically also in the books, but is usually much less severely enforced than having visible rear red reflectors. Usually, enforcers will turn a blind eye if you simply have some form of front reflector, even if it is "white." Again, though, enforcement of these issues is highly subjective and highly variable. -A <-- I love Winky, my "periwinkle" (ABP) LGT! - Allen / Usual Suspect "DumboRAT" / One of the Three Stooges '16 Outback, '16 WRX, 7th Subaru Family

Can you tell that to the person who backed into my parked car last month, causing $3300 of damage to my baby. Updated my vBGarage:
