hal9e3
I'm looking for 17x8 wheels, thinner 5-spoke design, sub 20 lb, in very shiny silver or polished finish. Polished rim w/ silver spokes would be perfect. Money is not much of an object. If I found the perfect wheel and it was <= $500 that would be fine. I've looked at some of the usual suspects: 1) 5-Zigen FN01R-C - Don't like the finish 2) Enkei RP-05 - too heavy 3) Sparco RTT524- Too heavy and don't like the finish 4) Enkei Falcon - Looks good but don't know the weight 5) Rota ??? - I know I looked at it, didn't like the available finishes My ideal choices would have been the AME Circlar Spec R, seen here (no longer available in the US or perhaps anywhere), or the OZ Crono HT, seen here (no longer available for our car). Suggestions?
BigTDogg MA
One of my favorites out there now is a double 5 spoke, the Enkei PF-01 http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheels/enkei_racing/swap/enkeir_pf01_bs_1000.jpg Available in 17x7.5, which I know isn't 8" but it still will let you fit a 235 tire. Then there's the RP-03: http://www.tirerack.com/images/wheels/enkei_racing/swap/enkei_rp03_s_1000.jpg Which is 17x8. The RP03 is under 18lbs, both use Enkei's MAT technology, and the PF01 is under 17lbs.
hal9e3
Yeah, the PF-01 looks nice but is too close in appearance to my BBS RK's. Thanks for reminding me about the RP-03. I may need to order one to see if I'll be happy with the finish.
hal9e3
Well, crap, the RP-03's seem to be disappearing. TR doesn't even have a full set and DiscTire told me they wouldn't be available until Nov. Any other ideas?
hal9e3
After looking at 5-spokes on my car online I've decided to try another route, so I ordered one of these to see how it looks in person. The SBC coating is unavailable unfortunately. I would have liked to have seen how that looked. My plan is to see if I like the way it looks, mount the wheel front and read to verify that it fits if I do, then buy 4 more and have them mounted with the Eagle F1 Asym's I already have if it does. Wheels go out of production so often I've decided that having a spare around is a wise investment.
hal9e3
Decided to go with the Enkei RS05's. The wheels clear fine, the 235/40-17 tires might be a tight fit. No matter, I'll make 'em work. Besides, it's a good excuse to buy new C/O's!
BigTDogg MA
Nice, not exactly a 5 spoke though, lol.
hal9e3
Nice, not exactly a 5 spoke though, lol. Yeah, I fixed the subtitle but I don't know of any way to change the title that shows up on the main page. Besides, it's a modder's prerogative to change his mind! No matter, I'll make 'em work. Besides, it's a good excuse to buy new C/O's! Got the new wheels w/ tires installed this weekend. The fronts sure looked like they would rub but so far no issues. I'm putting on new C/O's soon and raising the car a bit so it will be even less of an issue. I'll post up some pics soon.

It's tight but no rubbing as far as I can tell, even slammed in the front like mine is. I'm waiting on black lug nuts and may swap the center cap H/W and valve cap with black as well. BigTDogg MA
to this for Summer... http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa311/garybechtold/Legacy%20GT/EnkeiPF0101.jpg Summer mode is Enkei PF01 17x7.5 wheels with 225/45WR-17 Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec tires. Real nice choice, look great on your car. If I didn't score WRX wheels for the cost of one of those PF01s, I'd probably be getting them as well. Those tires are amazing also, how do you like them? Drift Motion
Just so you know there are 3 different silver finish on the FN01R-C One is a light silver, one is polished, and one is a hyper silver
hal9e3
Scooby Fan, I test fitted a 17x8 silver Crono HT a while back and really liked it but wasn't ready to pull the trigger. Now they're out of production for our vehicle. Drift Motion, no regrets:) I really like the wheels I got - in fact, I'm glad I went with them over a 5-spoke. I think their thin multi-spoke design conveys a sense of lightness but at the same time are sufficiently aggressive looking as well.
