Fold down seat question

Hey everyone!

 

I am new to LegacyGT and this is my first post! So anyways I am in the market for a Legacy and I looked at 2005 last night that was in great shape... but the rear seat doesn't fold down. (Which is a non starter for our family)

 

Or I am an idiot and am just not looking in the right place. I couldn't figure out how to fold the seat down. So my question is are fold down seats only on 2006 or newer models? It seems like for 2005s only the wagons have fold down seats. Is this right?

Folding rear seats were introduced in 2007 for sedans.

Yep, 2007+ for folding seats. It's silly, right? Folding rear seats have been around since well before 2007, it just took Subaru an awfully long time to hop on board.

i read on the mps6 forums that their seats aren't folding either, but with the removal of two bolts from behind the trunk liner, it can easily be folded down just like in any other car and securely folded back up. maybe our cars have it to, we just havent found it yet lol

toyota doesnt have folding down rear seats. i heard they had a law suit cuz someone died when the seats folded down when they got into an accident.

 

i love the my folding rear seats since our trunk isnt that big

There is a pass though on the '05 sedans for stuff like skiis. The center arm rest pulls down to access the trunk if this is all you need.

There's a write up on this forum to convert 05-06 rear seats to 07-09 rear seats that I saw awhile back. I'm sure the OG's on this site can help you out because I can't seem to find it.
