b707guy
It's probably right under my big ol Italian nose, but I can't find it! Had misfire cyl 3 code, replaced plugs and wires, code remained, replaced coil, code cleared and no CEL for a few hundred miles. New CEL, code 0325 for knock sensor. Got a new sensor, but... Where the heck is that thing? 98 2.5l LGT Thanks!
b707guy
Well, found the sensor and replaced it. CEL no longer lit, but first drive resulted in pegged temp gauge. This car in our ownership has never overtemped. So I must have done something to cause it? Forgot to reconnect something? I removed the air chamber leading into the throttle body to access the knock sensor, but didn't disconnect any electrics (except the sensor itself) or plumbing other than the hoses that were connected to the chamber. To my knowledge, there isn't an idiot light for high coolant temp, only the gauge, but the supp fans are running now (key in 'on' position), so I'm guessing there really is an overtemp in progress. No steam or anything, yet... Any thoughts?
b707guy
It's usually the obvious - coolant level was too low. Short term problem solved. Now where's the coolant going? Not on the floor, scared of the most likely...
Jelousz
98/99 High mileage Dual over head cam motors seep coolant into the cylinders. If there is no visible leak, it may be time for new head gaskets.
b707guy
That's kind of what it's looking like...
