The USDM bumpers look a lot fatter than the JDM ones, or is it just me maybe?
Here, we have a higher degree of driving ineptitude, leading to a great many 5 to 10 mph crashes of the "bonehead" variety. So the USDM (and Canadian) bumpers are designed to accomodate this, with more bumper to compress before anything bad happens to the car. We have an Insurance Institute here that runs cars through 5 and 10 mph barrier tests, and reports the results. If a car fares poorly, it is usually all over the news, which can adversely affect purchasing decisions. One BMW, for example, suffered something like $3K in a 5 mph barrier test. That's madness. On another board, there was much howling and whining about the JDM vs USDM bumpers. Here, there hasn't been as much which is good, because such things are stupid. The bumpers are as they are. Deal with them or not. The Legacy is a handsome car, irrespective of how far the bumpers stick out, dependent upon which market one is purchased in. Kevin
