milesej05
The first thing I noticed while being on the boards here is that Tie rods seem to go bad in the Legacy's. Just curious how you can tell if your tie rod is broke. Also, would this make the car pull a bit to one side or the other?
car_cursed
you can usually tell a bad tie rod by a clicking noise that can get quicker or slower depending on your speed. and it can throw your alignment out of whack a little.
milesej05
ok, my car pulls just a tad to the right but I don't hear any clicking noise. I would assume I just need to get my tires rotated or an alignment soon. I am a little over 30K miles without doing the scheduled service as I just bought the car and need to call the previous owner to see if he did the 30K scheduled service
joelwatts
i just replaced my inners. ima do a walk through on it in a bit. the way you tell is by lifting the front wheels off the ground, grasp the tire at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock position. then gently move it back and forth. not enough to turn the wheels just enough to test for play. if it moves, check the end and the inner tie rod for any movement at all. if it moves, its bad. btw, if you hear a clicking noise while turning, its more than likely the axle. not the tie rod.
