Legacy 2.5i wagon (2005) vs Mazda 6 sportwagon GT-V6 (2004)

We narrowed things down to these two choices. The cost is similar. My wife finds the Mazda nicer looking. The Gold Ash color comes with tan coloured leather seats which is very nice and easier to keep clean and free of wet dog smell and dog hairs (we have a Golden Retriever). I think the Legacy is safer and a bit more fuel efficient. AWD is nice to have, but we never felt that our current front wheel drive car was having difficulties meeting the kind of challenges resulting from our driving. Which other arguments should we consider?

The Mazda is a nice car, if you're fine with front wheel drive. Go for it. It is a looker, and will be a lot more fun than the 2.5i Legacy. Of course, the GT is another question. I'd take the Mazda were I okay with FWD. Kevin

I concur with Kevin. Just for reference, FWD= WWD (wrong wheel drive.) ;) After going AWD, I'm not going back, especially living where we get the occasional snowfall.

Well said by the two above. I wouldn't go back to FWD unless I HAD to, but it's up to you. The Mazda will most certainly be more zippy, and Mazda's offer some pretty great value.

The Mazda 6 is a pretty nice car. If you're looking to get the auto, it's more responsive in the 6 and just feels stronger overall. It can get pretty expensive with options though.

well, since you're comaping teh 2.5i, I'd go with the Mazda 6. More power and you said yourself you don't need AWD. WWD is no fun, but if you're just looking for something to drive daily with a bit of kick, the 6 probably fits the ticket better.
