Applehill
98 legacy 5 door stick, 125k miles. Engine bay has loud omnipresent whine that corresponds in pitch to RPMs. I've read that this may be the AC pulley. My AC seemed to have stopped working around inception of noise. I live near SF and don't need AC. When ventilation/defrost is activated, the sound from the vents seems strained and not quite right. Am I damaging or risking something by driving it this way (it's been more thAn a year)? What is it? What are options for addressing and associated costs? Any thoughts are most appreciated! Thanks! subikid90
If you dont need your AC then take the belt off and leave everything else there. This is also the best way to test to see if that is really the location of the whine. -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
