The picture isn't the greatest, but it's not too bad. I'll post a better pict once I get a tint job.

Taken the day after I picked it up.

A uninsured motorist, with no drivers license, and no registration backed in to oncoming traffic Monday evening. He was sighted for all of the above! My insurance is fixing my 3 week old car with 2100 miles on it. It will be all OEM parts, but I still wish they would total it! Hopefully when the body shop tears it apart they find more damage and it can be totaled out!

If the damage amount is worth more than 50% of what the cars is worth they will total it... At least that is what I was told by my insurance company when my old VW got totaled in an accident back in the day... A Guy Rear Ended my Car at a Red Light doing 50+ MPH... He was a Street Racing Ricer... My Back still isn't right...

At least your OK that is the important thing... Was there any passengers in your car?

No passengers... I'm "ok" but extremely sore... between the airbag and impact I have never felt so much soreness in my body.. EVER!

Hmm very surprised that you insurance is even attempting to fix after an air bag deployment usually that is an instant total...

Pretty sure the body shop will tell the insurance company that it should be totaled...

Everything should work out... Good Luck...

Wow man, I hope they total the car....I bet there is main frame damage there...

Get on the line with the insurance after they review everything.

Cars with that amount of damage will never be the same again.

I hope they fix this for you asap.

This isn't 100% true. Most insurance companies have a predesignated percentage of the value of the car that will determine if its totaled or not. Some insurance companies have that percentage as high as 81% (I think allstate-stan) and others are relatively low around 51-56%. Keep in mind thats of the initial damage assessment. Once work has begun they will pay the total bill even if its 110% of the value of the car.

Case in point:

Woman is driving her 2005 Toyota Corolla S and a 2005 STi pulls out in front of her from between parked cars. The woman t-bones the STi and the initial damage is appraised at $5500. The insurance company goes to work right away and get the car taken a part and begins to repair the car. After about 3 weeks of repairs the body shop decides that the front clip has to be removed and a new one is re-welded on. After another few weeks the car is reassembled and delivered with a repair bill of $21k. The car was purchased for 15k, and was valued at 12k.

A week after delivery the car was sold to carmax for 14k, and now my wife drives a pathfinder.

Yeah, airbag deployment usually is a total loss because the airbags are usually so damn expensive.

A couple of the things they look at right away are:

Front windshield - Is it cracked?

A pillars - Have they been moved or damaged?

Door gaps - Have they been closed?

And yes, Did the Air Bags deploy?

Air Bag deployment is not an automatic total though. Airbags have gone off on cars and there was none of the other above damage. So to say that the Legacy will get totalled because the air bag went off is silly. There is a lot more that goes into the choice of whether a car is totalled or not.

I'm sorry that happened and hopefully you'll be feeling better soon.

Did the side A-Pillar curtain airbag deploy as well?

If so, could you comment on how far from the top it deployed down the pillar?

Did the Pillar trim cover fly open from the pillar when the curtain deployed or did it stay intact?

several have interest in fixing a cluster gauge to the A-Pillar. I have a GPS mounted very low on the pillar.

Thanks!!

This isn't a legacy, but here you go. I'm told, and assured by an insurance appraiser that this is how ALL Subaru Type curtain air bags deploy. He is going to take pictures if of a legacy if he comes across one. But he's been looking since last May or June.

Hrm, that's what my impreza looked like when I got t-boned. No glass broke though, they totalled it because the lady hit me halfway on the rear door and halfway on my 05 LGT wheel. That wheel was barely connected to the car after the accident. My friend at the body shop that did the apraisal said that it was fixable but the car was hit in the torque box so it would probably never drive the same again.

Thank you ice wolf. I wish it was actually lowered that was just my graphic design friend messing around with it. It should be lowered with powder coated rims by June. This is what she really looks like lol

I have but I love our stock rims for some reason. I think it would definitely look better powder coated black though.

I totally agree that the stock rims should've been black. Very nice car dude. What did you use to black out the lights?
