How did you get the GT style mufflers on the XT without using a JDM bumper? Did you lower the exhaust hangers?

Ya all i did was buy 4 longer exhaust hangers for the mufflers and trimmed the bumper plastic on the bottom of the bumper just for added clearance. I went to the picknpull and got 4 exhaust hangers from a mid 90 jeeps and thy ended up working fine.

Would you be able to take a picture from below the mufflers looking up so I could see your hanger and bumper mods?It looks great. I have a set of GT mufflers I may end up putting on my XT after seeing how sick yours looks.

I'm assuming you had to weld the new hangars on the bumper.

No. No welding was required. All i did was get the 4 rubber hangers for some 90s jeeps since they are faily long and the exhaust fit no problem. Perfect size.

Ill get a pic of them up. There were no modifications to the exhaust or the actual hangers. Just replaced the stock rubber exhaust hangers with the jeep ones since it only cost about 8 bucks for it all.

If you're trimming the plastic, not sure you really need longer (rubber) hangers.

Have you noticed any sway in the exhaust system with the longer hangers, or did you do something to ensure it would remain in place?I ask because so many exhaust systems with long rubber hangers tend to move left to right.

I havent noticed any sway in the exhaust but I havent seen it from outside the car. Everything fits nice and snug and the exhaust hanger on the mid Y pipe stiff has a short exhaust hanger. I can only move the mufflers like half an inch pushing pretty hard. Its probably because the rubber hangers are angled like \ / instead of | | so it holds it in place better.

Heres the pics of the trimmed plastic under the bumper and the longer rubber hangers. I did trim more than I had too but it got the job done.

Excellent, thanks for the photos. I may have to go this route with my XT using a spare set of COBB Mufflers I have laying around. Do you have much of an issue with dragging going in and out of parking lots? They look like they may hang down slightly lower than the same setup on a GT.

Only once have they ever scraped and it was really an extreme angle. Other than that no ground clearance issues

dude, you should post a high quality sound bite of the exhaust at various rpms. I am curious to see how it sounds both from the outside and inside the cabin. You car looks good man. I like OBXT in black.

Thanks. I cant really get a super good quality recording but i can just take a video with my camera. It takes pretty good audio when i do woofer/sound system videos for youtube. So it should pick up the exhaust pretty good.

So that's what a 7.5" wheel with a +45 looks like on an Outback.

Heres the one spot on the front that I have some rub. Like I said it is so small it really doesnt even matter. Its the darker spot on the upper right.

Oh this is awesome, that's nothing. I'm going to go ahead and say that I should be OK if I use lowering spring.

Thanks
