05 LGT Limited

I am currently looking at an 05 LGT with around 98,000 miles on it. It has a blown turbo which isn't a problem for me since i was planning on upgrading to the BNR 16G. The car is in Maryland which is over 400 miles away from me. I asked the dealership if they could send me a carfax and they sent me a history record that I am not familiar with. I have included the file and would appreciate if you all looked at it and let me know if there is anything else I can do to make sure I'm not buying a lemon. It shows it has been in a wreck but the dealer said it has a clean title.

Disregarding that mess.

 

Don't buy a car with a blown turbo, unless you're prepared to rebuild your engine. There's really no telling what happened to the turbo unless you dig into the engine.

 

If you really want it, lowball the shit out of them. Personally, I would not pay anything over 4 grand for that car.

I bought mine at 98k under 10 grand with everything 100% working.

 

101k miles so far and the only problem I had so far is a torn cv boot. Turbo is still running great.

From what I've read and heard from an independent shop, I think that's a valuable point. I paid a little extra for an unmodded wagon and 20K miles later I'm not regretting the purchase. (20K miles? Crap, I like driving this thing way too much!)

Thaks guys, I've just heard alot of the stock turbos have failed due to oil starvation. If it's safer to pay a little extra knowing I'm getting a mechanically sound car then that's what I'll do.

The main cause of failure is oil starvation. The problem is that on some of the failed turbos the blades contact the housing, sending metal fragments into the intercooler and engine. A new intercooler is hardly a big deal, but a few people have needed a whole new shortblock.
