Stock Downpipe ?????

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if somebody could tell me if there is any difference in the stock downpipes off an 06 lgt with AT and MT, I know the aftermarkets are different but not sure about stock, I called the dealership and the guy said he thought they were both the same just trying to get a definite answer if I can, thanks

mounting bracket for the transmission. I believe that is the only difference.

I am fairly sure they are the same length. Otherwise, there would have to be AT/MT specific catbacks... and there aren't.

I was thinking the same thing after I posted that. I was thinking of LGT vs WRX DPs, which look similar but are different lengths.

The mounting points on AT vs MT LGT DPs are different.

This isn't true. The 08+ WRX downpipe fits the 05+ LGT. Same part.

^ You are right in this case. In general however, some AT DP (shorty section) can be put on some 6mt and vice versa.

To OP: find a copy of Subaru FAST in the torrents, and it will let you get part numbers for downpipes for different model years. That way you'll see that part numbers are different.

It's been answered, but: The AT equipped cars have a different downpipe than the MT because the automatic transmission is larger than the manual, and the pipe has different bends to clear it. A stock MT downpipe will hit the transmission on an AT, and with a stock downpipe, a BFH isn't a solution.

Just for the fun of it. Not starting anything, I'm just hyped out from Christmas cookies...

wheres the generalization?

"They are different. They have different bends to get around the tranny. I have posted pix of both side by side before. Downpipes ARE transmission specific, even OEM."

I love fireworks,. But seriously after like 25 oatmeal Scotties and 50 ginger bread men I am bouncing off the walls here.

But for the car in question, an 05 LGT. They are. They are most certainly transmission specific. The OP specifically asked about OEM downpipes. OEM downpipes are transmission specific.

No one asked about splitting them into pieces and mating one upper to another lower. The OP was offered a DP for his car and wanted to know if it fit.

Started on the soda now. Sugar is AMAZING!

Did you guys know that Red Bull Cola actually had trace amounts of Cocaine in it? That stuff was on the market for quite some time, and they just pulled it late '09/early '10. Crazy!
