Acura TSX wagon? Come on Subaru....!

Recommended Posts

no V6/turbo + FWD == no thanks.

Too bad. I like the TSX wagon but that's deal breaker to me.

I think Acura has one of the best interiors in the business. I test drove an Acura TSX before I got the LGT and I loved the ride and the technology, but I really felt like it was lacking some serious power. It needed to be revved high just to get it going which isn't for me.

I don't plan to buy one, (no AWD) but it is interesting that Acura decided to bring this vehicle into the US, given the poor reception that "station wagons" have here. Everyone wants to buy a wagon with a foot of ground clearance for those challenging trips to the mall. Only a few of us want the room to haul stuff AND good handling.

Welcome to the Forum, noob!

As for the TSX Wagon, I think it's great! Not every car needs to be a sports car. Everytime we check one out at an auto show, the fiance' and I really like the TSX sedan, so I'm sure we would like this even better. Should be a great little grocery-getter.

Seek first to understand, then to be understood.

In other words: SEARCH before you post!

IMO, the TSX wagon is a good start for us wagon-phobic Americans, but a manual transmission would make it much better. :) I don't expect AWD from Honda and, if you do get AWD, it'd be a Haldex system, so why bother with the extra weight?

That said, however, I find a VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI w/ 6MT to be a much more compelling FWD wagon choice.

I bet you've never heard SH-AWD before.

My wife drives 2010 Acura MDX and I become a big fan of SH-AWD after driving it.

Looks much more attractive than the cross-tour. Though most cars do:rolleyes:. Acura certainly has a high quality interior which is a big plus. It is just that the fwd and being lean on power is not appealing nowadays, to more and more people with awd becoming more popular. It should have at least 240bhp, to throw out a respectable number.

No matter what manufacturer you look at, each one is always striving for a little more power. Especially while sustaining good fuel economy.

IMO Acura needs to have an available Sh-AWD and a v6 or turbo-4 for this car to hold its own versus the competition.

Of course, I've heard of SH-AWD, but that's not what the TSX would likely get. The Accord Crosstour AWD is a Haldex system and the TSX is the European market/JDM Accord.

True, didn't think about that before. :(

Someone thinks a wagon will sell in the US. Acura just sent me this link in an e-mail about the upcoming TSX wagon. If this does sell, do you think Subaru will ever de-elevate the outback and make a wagon again?

Subaru do make a wagon, they just don't sell it on the US market.

I always look at new wagon offerings no matter who makes them just because there are so few now and I did look at the TSX. What pretty much eliminated from consideration is the huge amount of cargo space eaten up by the rear suspension. The pass through looks like it is only about 3ft wide making it very difficult to load large objects.

Apparently the wagon was not a success; the customer and market have spoken, SOA killed it. Quit yer bitchin'

Speaking of successes, I wonder why the Tribeca is still around

I think that they were more worried about the wagon pushing out the Outback.

Funny.. the wagon was just an Outback with a different suspension. Not really a separate car like the TSX., Audi, Mazda, BMW, Mercedes, VW...... Not very expensive to produce. Don't know about you, but I see a lot of old Suby wagons on the road here in WI and with the greasy crap on the roads here most of the winter, I welcome the lower CG and better handling of my GT wagon. Better than the elevated Outback. They could have continued the line but I suppose the upscale movers wouldn't have it. Can't be seen in a "station wagon" you know.

And.. I'll bitch if I want to...:p I can be good at it.

I have an 09 TSX with technology package. My wife also has an 09 TSX Premium. Same as mine but without Nav, back up camera, and 'better' stereo. The Nav comes with a slew of other stuff though.

Anyway, I agree that the interior and creature comfort features of the TSX has the 4th Gen LGT beat, but that's the only place it shines more then the LGT. Besides which the 5th Gen LGT has all the same goodies.

The TSX is dog slow and has been parked in my garage since I got my 06 OB XT. I haven't looked back since.

Now if Acura would pull it's head out of it's ass and offer the TSX with a V6, 6MT and the SH-AWD system it would have my attention again. All that said the TSX wagon is not available in Canada.

Trust me when I say you are not missing ANYTHING where the TSX is concerned.

I love the space and the AWD of my OB XT. Not to mention the power.

The TSX doesn't even come close.
