jackjroadster
We have the same problem. I'm going to fix my heat shield tomorrow but I'm quite confused with what I've read here on car repair question on how to do it. Someone answered this "pop rivet it to under side using a bracket as a spacer". What does this mean?
09LegacyDude
can i just remove it.
09LegacyDude
anyone please, i really want to get this exhaust on and I am at a stand still.
GEE-OTTO
Wait you have the Mid pipe and your stock heat shield is prohibiting this? You can Rubber mallet the heat shield at the areas it touches or you can remove it or dremel out the problem area with a cutting wheel attachment. If you do remove the shielding consider dry wrapping the mid-pipe with thermal wrap. Besides the Drive shaft there isn't much that need protection from heat

09LegacyDude
it has a little rumble but i am still waiting for someone to make an UEL header for our cars. even at higher rpms it sounds pretty good, i am use to LS1s so this is really quiet. Here's the thread with the information of his build. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/soooo-bought-ebay-header-147522.html It doesn't hurt to reset the ecu, just unplug the battery for bit, then plug it back in. ECU will be reset, and it can start learning again.
bmx045
I had the same exhaust on my 2.5i, I ripped the heatshield off, literally with pliers and it all came popping off. No problems with it off.

Vinny78
alright does it sound like a honda cause thats what i dont want as long as it sounds decent and almost has some rumble im happy, Did you notice any horsepower gain or loss cause i no a lot of people say that gt cat backs make u lose torque. Vinny78
did you just put mufflers on ?
09LegacyDude
i put the whole set up on, and than after about a week i took out the mid and y pipe, i felt a loss with the whole system but with the mufflers seems a little faster but not much. and the sound is great for the 2.5i, it doesnt sound anything like a honda. it has a nice light rumble and lower note than other tuner cars.
