Scooby2.5
Yea it turned out great. My wife or I had never done upholstery but it wasn't too bad. Cost me 100 for a yard of alcantara, 20 bucks for a good hog ring tool and 12 bucks for some hog rings. Wife did the sewing
Sublimejoe
Did you have a pattern to work with or anything?
natoli4
looks really good! You may be able to sell some of these to some other members...
Scooby2.5
Sublime, we took the seat covers off, used a seam ripper to take the tweed out. Made a pattern off the removed tweed fabric and then sewed the Alcantara back in. The key tip we got from a upholstery shop was to mark the tweed with a line onto the black every inch or two, cut the alcantara out and transfer the lines from the tweed to the alcantara. That way it goes back in the same exact spot. Wife even said that was the key.

Christian.
Scooby2.5, Great build sir! Such an OEM look to everything...yet it will pound on most STis you will ever see. I too like your wife and have never met her. Your attention to detail is motivating. Nice work, Christian.
Scooby2.5
Thanks Christian, coming from one of the Cobb R&D guys that is quite a compliment. Someday when you have one of your HUGE events in Austin Id like to make it down.

Scooby2.5
She has been laughing at all the comments. If you have a wife or family member that sews it doesn't seem that it was to hard. You have a built in pattern in the tweed section.
atchipmunk
What a sick build! And love the fact that you have high miles on the car! Nothing worse than a sick car that doesn't get used for what it was built for...driving. Loving the JDM rear OB bumper. Is there a JDM version of the fron OB bumper as well? I'd assume it would be shorter than the US counterpart if there is? Anyway, good job. Your attention to detail is definitely inspiring... Kudos to your wife as well! I wish I could get my wife to do stuff like that to my car. Does your wife give classes?
Scooby2.5
Again not the greatest pictures but here is the competed seats, 08 STI shifter, DCCD controls and 6 speed with Cobb Knob.... http://gallery.me.com/gregnauman/100034/IMG_0237/web.jpg? http://gallery.me.com/gregnauman/100042/IMG_0441/web.jpg http://gallery.me.com/gregnauman/100034/IMG_0238/web.jpg? I wish I could get my wife to do stuff like that to my car. Does your wife give classes? Ive often wondered about the front bumper question. If the JDM bumper would allow me to keep the beam over my FMIC I would consider it. My front bumper is pretty rough due to the 170K. Rest of the car is near perfect. If I could find the answer to that question, which I may start researching that is definitely an option. Some sort of JDM front end would be nice..... If I have to get the front one sanded and painted it might be just as cost affective to get the JDM front (if available) and just swap it out. HMMMMMM....
