I think no, no, no. the 99 ej22 is a phase 2 engine w/ SOHC and it's different from the earlier ones but the phase 1 ej22 are SOHC as well. the EJ22 was always SOHC. the phase 1 ej25 are DOHC. the phase 2 ej25 are SOHC.
