Lino
Does anyone know what the compression should be on the EJ22 engine, non turbo. My car runs good but I'm thinking the engine is getting worn out and my fuel economy dropping. Maybe I need to do a valve job, do these engines have hydraulic valves also? Zues Marine
the 2.2L NA had several compression ratios Phase 1 1995 - 9.5:1 1996-1998 - 9.7:1 Phase 2 1999 - 10:1 HP & tq 1995-1996 - 135HP@5400rpm and 140ftlb@4400rpm 1996-1998 - 137HP@5400rpm and 145ftlb@4400rpm 1999+ - 142HP@5600rpm and 149ftlb@3600rpm in 1997 the 2.2L and 2.5L became interference due to a redesigned piston and higher compression ratio. 1999 Legacys got the phase 1 2.5L(DOHC) while impreza and forester got the phase 2 2.5L(SOHC)
