New BW EFR turbos coming soon through FR!!!!

Recommended Posts

Uploaded KGB's results. The pulls start at the pretty much the same RPM, though it may be better if he started below 2500 RPM.

That's what happens when you don't edit out the data from the dyno pull after you finish the pull and the RPMs start to drop.

Negative ghost rider, the patter is full. You dont edit dyno graphs, thats called "cheating". It could be torque converter lock up (but it seems high). It could be slip.

Almost certain it's the TC... mine did the same thing at about the same place.

Finally got my car back from the shop to install the Full Race TS 7163 kit. Car is currently running a base map so I can break in the new motor and clutch. Hopefully everything holds up fine when it goes in for the final tune next weekend.

Any updates on your TS 7163 build?

I decided to go with the Kelford 199-B cams

And using Tomei sprockets advance the Exhoust cams

a bit - this should shift the curve to the Left,

how much tbd...

Little update: Yimi is finally putting together my motor based on a closed block, WPC treated and all, in preparation to accepting the EFR 7163 TS. Fingers crossed.

In the meanwhile I put all my previous turbos for sale (see eBay) to fund this extravaganza -

you'll find VF40, VF52, AVO380, and EFR 6258 SS (and EFR 7163 SS that's coming off my car now) and other supporting goodies injectors, TMIC, all in good working order - email me and I'll offer another 10% discount to LGT ppl

FYI, the motor is now bolted together,

in the next few weeks Yimi will be installing it into the bay - lots of welding involved,

the breaking-in (hopefully no blowup:)

then tune - I'll keep all updated...

I was just wondering how your build was coming along. Happy to see some progress.

FYI, my built is almost done - motor is together, the 7163 twin snail is in,

needs some piping & welding, and a custom 1/2-wave resonator to get rid of the drone...

I'll update soon when the tuning fun starts...

FYI, it's been a while, but she is finally ALIVE!

just finished break-in the motor on the dyno

The car is not yet tuned but, the boost threshold is identical to the 6258 - Wow!

(6258 is a small 43lb stock-like fast spooling turbo,

whereas 7163 TS is a 63lb turbo :)

Peak power was a promising 305whp at only 13 psi.

more updates to come when the fine tuning to commence...

ps: tranny is holding so far

a quick update - 7163 TS is in, no tuning yet but I am getting over 300whp on just the base map - little - 2- no lag, in fact, I have a problem - compressor surge - looks like the engine cannot ingest the air the turbo is happy to provide!

Any suggestions how to best deal with this?

I am going to change mufflers to try to quiet the car, going to try 2.5" x 2 Maddad's -

anybody has experience with this, noise wise?

More soon - I should have the tuning done over Thanksgiving...

I'm pretty sure you'd need a considerably bigger turbo to get that sort of compressor surge. My guess is that what you're hearing is just wastegate flutter, which will probably be fixed with further tuning.

The 7163 has a unique spool sound. I'd be surprised if you're getting actual surge. You could try targeting less boost at lower rpm. The turbo will make 10+ psi before 3000 rpm, at least with my twin scroll setup.

Quick update - my TS7163 motor puts down 380whp in Cal 91 -

not bad at all considering its a 5EAT.

Instaling Maddad mufflers next to quiet things down and then e85 tune...

I'm going to say 488 on e85. Can't wait to see your curves.

It WILL make more than 500hp, but I may dial it back a bit

So far the spool-up in near stock-like, at least by the graph,

of course the EFR is MUCH more linear spooling than the spike & drop VF turbos...

just linear pull, pull and PULL, way beyond what an OEM OBXT suspension & breaks can handle, scarry! (I already upgraded the brakes, and if the transmission holds I'll be upgrading the suspension next with a Bilstein Kit from japan, unless somebody has an even better idea, anybody...?
