Alpina BMW 3.3S bi-turbo specs...

Recommended Posts

Coupe guys? Have you seen my wagon?;)

And the 335i TT engine is not all it's cracked up to be... I have embarrassed several fanboys in my mom-mobile.

On a sanctioned track of course.

The new single turbo BMW offering should be a hoot though...

I love German cars though... I would just never own one.

The new A4 for example is sex on wheels. Looks like something the 'RS' factory produced just a few years ago.

And the AMG house is nothing short of breath-taking. C63 for me, please.

Finally a wagon guy...thanks for your comments. Don't mean to start a pissing contest...I've owned 2 Legacy wagons and am seeking another...I just thought I'd spice up the for-sale forum pages with something pretty sweet...

I don't think you've commented on the right wagon either.. this is NOT a BMW 3.3 or 3.5 in the strict sense of the word and esp. under the hood...it's an AWD (optional) Alpina car, modified BMW engine 400hp/400ft lbs of torque (DIN) using Alpina's bi-turbo package...yes in BMW trim but not your run of the mill wagon, by any means.

Not $40,000 either, like my wagon when it was new seen here...BMW wagon concept is way immature...I would rather own a Saab 93 Aero ...at only 285hp ...If I could get it properly serviced without sending it to Sweden..?

I like the Haldex drive system too in both the BMW and the SAAB, as it's almost as good as Subaru's efforts and frankly the comfort, good paint and glass roof and an automatic that (with the bi-turbo setup) solves the lag issues makes it's something to consider for those that can afford it.

Wow I thought I was the only SAAB fan in here. The AWD on my wife's TurboX is quite good. It's a great car.

And sadly, it has a slusher. If it had the 6MT I would steal it from her. As it is I prefer to drive my Leggeracy....just wish I could have her seats and steering wheel.

Here's a liitle video of an XWD Haldex equipped 09 Saab 93 Coupe making breakfast snacks...

The six speed was optional on the Aero (not sure about the 08 Turbo X) and if they had come in any color but (Henry Ford) black I would have snagged one...as it was '08 was the first year the Aero sportcombi used the Haldex 4th generation AWD system and optionally it came with the electronically controlled LSD (like the turbo x which is why you like it) for maximum traction on any surface. Both are standard on the 09 Aero wagon shown here...Haldex (design 4 with the electronic limited slip) was built for Land Rover while BMW owned that company...and is used in Jaguars/Land Rovers and other fine AWD road cars in Europe to this day...stock tip: buy Haldex the company is going places!

I am strongly considering this 6MT in the SAAB ('09 Aero wagon) although NAV is something I refuse to have in my car so they have offered to swap it our for the RDS radio/CD setup...we will see...as at less than $25k it's a great deal...esp. if you live above the heavy snow line like I do...As much as I do like fusion blue I just want another color wagon (other than blue) before I pass on?

:D

"look ma...no seat stripes!" (Alcantara one-color leather too!)

We looked at the 6MT too but wife wanted the slusher.

Black was not my first choice either but the TurboX is a mean looking wagon. I love the wheels + bigger brakes, unique exhaust and a meaty steering wheel. Plus the price I was able to negotiate made it tough to say no to the X. Wife still loves it two years later (just like she loved her 2003 9-3 Vector).

Best of luck with your SAAB and Subaru...the 07 redesign was very good for SAAB, and the start of it all for the

latest generation of the 93 Sportcombi...It's too bad GM saw it otherwise?

Well your 2.5L H4 isn't really all that impressive stock either. See how the twin turbo I6 does with a turbo(s) swap, larger intercooler, injectors, etc etc.

That's where I was going with my question. lol

The only thing you don't get with the V Wagon is AWD, which will probably make or break your decision.

Personally if I wanted something in that price range with a good amount of space, is fun to drive, and needed the awd, I'd probably look at a low mile Cayenne GTS.

What's the price tag for the Alpina?

Here's the B3'S' Alpina pricing you asked for StoplightAssassin: There's 19% luxury tax added for European union buyers or about $10,500 on the wagon.

See: http://www.alpina-automobiles.com/de/

The AWD wagon and it's standard equipment is here:http://www.alpina-automobiles.com/en/models-alpina/b3-biturbo/equipment/touring.html?tx_bgmconfiguratordata_pi1%5Bmid%5D=26&cHash=6b04d2ccc2

Not bad deriving a 3.0 litre at 400hp drinking 29.4 mpg from a turbo six (automatic)

What's that 6.2 litre 400hp CTS V8 in the Cadillac acheive... in this dept..fifteen mpg?

Options (in German) are listed on the website under the 'configurator' for that particular model...

All prices are in Euro's: Here's a currency converter: http://www.oanda.com/currency/converter/

The CTS (wagon) wasn't available with the 400hp V8 ...IF it did come thus equipped, you'd get at best (as per the Sedan/Coupe) 14 city - 19 hwy.

The 29.4 figure for the BMW/Alpina is the combined mileage (city/highway)

I didn't realize they don't currently make a CTS-V Wagon. I guess I read about it but they haven't built it.

While the Alpina sure is nice, there's a lot of vehicles I'd rather have for the money.

They do make a cts-v wagon now with 556hp but they didnt when the 385-400hp versiosn were out.

Agree on that as it's sure a lot of coin...

What else is a lot of coin? Say over say a 80k mile lifetime...the Caddy will use enough extra gasoline to buy a nice O5 LGT wagon...or approx. $17,300

worth of extra gasonine...putting it into the atmosphere as hydrocarbons...kinda sucks (choke...) when you think of it that way...

Cheers!
