CB-M3
Just picked up legacy GT. Looking at doing the timing belt? What site has the cheapest kits? OEM? Gates? Dayco? Ebay?
ktmrider
Welcome, Fred Beans for your question. Timing components "should" be OEM. Just my opinion, never use the word "cheapest" when looking for critical items such as this.....
Max Capacity
I used Dayco from Advance Auto Parts 2 years ago. If I did it now I would use the Gates Racing stuff from Fredbeans. Belt is 300% stronger. I guess it should last longer...? http://www.fredbeansparts.com/index.php/maintenance/gates-racing-subaru-legacy-gt-timing-kit-s.html Ask them about the life of the Gates belt. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Engine Build - Click Here

croll326
Fred Beans is great. They are a Subaru dealer in eastern PA. I have purchased over $3k in parts from them. I wont buy parts anywhere else. I even call them for OEM parts I can drive to a local stealership to buy. Fred Beans is nicer and much more knowledgeable than any local dealer around me. I have the gates timing kit. I also purchased the gates racing timing belt, and the two smaller accessory belts. I sold the standard belt that comes in the timing kit and make some $$$ back. It will be getting installed in 9k miles.
