Alekss Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Is anyone using an all season tire on their Legacy GT? I'd like some feedback on what tire is best suited for all year round. We get a lot of snow in Ontario and I need tires that will do well both in snow and dry conditions. I was going to get winters but I hear I have to go to 17" rim to do that, basically stock size 215-45-17. I'm trying to avoid switching tires twice a year and just go with all season tires instead.
krzyss Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 ok. I used both stock RE92 and replacement Dunlop SP5000 all seasons. Yes you can survive but using real winter Continental TS810 (even in 225/45R17 size when 205/50R17 might be better for winter) is an eye opener. Krzys
bluesuby Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 If I lived in Ontario I would just buy extra wheels and go with full snows in the winter. I live in a milder climate but go with dedicated winters anyway. I have 76,000 miles on the car and my original RE92 s will be gone by the end of Fall. I still have 2 more seasons on the snows, so it's a matter of initial outlay of money to buy the winter tires and the costs are pretty equal in the end.
jjwink Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I don't have person experience, I just bought my 2010 LGT, but I asked the same question and did a lot of reading and research. At least in Indiana, the Pole Position RE960AS tire is VERY popular. I think the Continental DWS's might do better show but I think people like the wet/dry traction of the 960 better and are willing to give up a little snow grip. Especially since most of Indiana gets no to light snow each year.
BrooklynBoy Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 My opinion.......stick with dedicated snows. Does not add to cost of operating (since as has been mentioned----your other tires aren't being used up). I think of snows tires as a really cheap life insurance policy....... Do it right the first time.........or don't bother doing it at all.
