torinalth
hope this goes here and not in suspension, please move if not. ok, so I have a vibration that gets worse as the speed goes up after about 30 MPH. its on the right side as the sound goes away when on an on/off ramp and it unloads. I cant figure out if it is the front or the rear. what can I do to test the wheels and figure out which one I need to replace? T
Bolksey85
Best way is to get it on a lift and listen. Or try and rock the wheels back and forth while on jack stands. Vehicle is not running, obviously. If there's excess play, you found it. Is there a whurring noise or something like that associated with it? Edit: wheel bearings are super common on these so it's a definite possibility.
torinalth
yeah, there is noise and vibration... guess I'll put her in neutral and try and spin the wheels and see if I can find it that way. got some time tomorrow. I'll also try and rock the wheel, but am kinda skepticle on that one due to SO many components that can give a bit (bushings and whatnot... but if it moves a LOT I suppose it'll be obvious. LegacyDan
does vibration get worse under braking? if so its one of the front hubs
torinalth
No vibration from braking. Had that countless times. Narrowed it to the tire or wheel bearing. Guess I could also swap the spare on for a secondary test.
