Jimblaz Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 so you remove the downpipe to get to the uppipe. Is it neccessary to change the DP to turbo gasket when doing this?? how much risk of a leak is there if i just reuse it??
Jimblaz Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 also.... any tricks for getting the dang downpipe off the hooked hanger?? mine just doesnt want to move that far.... ugh
John M Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Everybody says to use a new gasket but I don't see a problem with using the stocker again. It's not exactly a fragile item. For the hook, you've just got to muscle the pipe till it clears. The muffler section is all on rubber hangers so the flex is there.
m sprank Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Disconnect the downpipe from the CBE. Its just two more bolts. Once it is free you can swing the CBE out of the way and the DP will come right off the hook.
moncur_6 Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 I always replace gaskets just in case they aren't in good enough shape...doing a job twice because of laziness sucks eggs IMO
m sprank Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Gaskets are not meant to be re-used. Not are o-rings or crushwashers. Heck NO soft part is meant for re-use after the initial torque has been applied. Not saying you cant get away with it. But rather do it right the first time, no?
okla7788 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 for the hook hanger - just loosen the two bolt 12mm hold the hanger - it will give you enough play to get the DP off the hook
