SkyWalker11 Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 when i first purchased my 07 legacy (used) it seemed near perfect, but after i installed the kendwood ddx-512 myself and bypassed the E-break wire to the ground (so the passenger can watch dvd's while cruisin' on road trips) My E-break light is always on whether i got the e-break pulled back or not. is this normal when that wire is connected to ground? anyone else have the same problem? or is my car gonna explode?
mwiener2 Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 You don't connect your e-brake to ground. You connect the wire from the head unit that normally goes to the e-brake, to ground. My Mods List (Updated 8/22/17) 2005 Outback FMT Running on Electrons
SkyWalker11 Posted July 19, 2010 Author Posted July 19, 2010 well thats what i ment the wired labeled "e-brake" from the head unit. sorry
Igor Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 I'm Just throwing this out there, but check your brakes......... After I got my Legacy in about 2 weeks the brake light didn't go off after I put E-brake down, I didn't know what was wrong until I changed my brakes about 2 weeks later. After I changed my brakes light turned off......... This might not be the issue with your car, but thought I might tell you, Cause who knows..... Good Luck.
bighaus90 Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 if it is a actual brake issue you might not need to replace your brakes but igor is right as your brakes wear the brake fluid level decreases and this (in some cars) can trip the brake light so check your brake fluid to see if its low if not then its an electrical problem.
mwiener2 Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 yeah, if you wired it properly and your brake light is on, check your brake fluid. If it's low, you either have a leak, or you need new pads. My Mods List (Updated 8/22/17) 2005 Outback FMT Running on Electrons
