ACC recirculate and hot days?

Recommended Posts

When you have the AC turned on, sometimes the "auto" mode will put the system into recirculate mode (for max AC I assume). If you then turn off the car (ex. you arrive at work), will the system stay in recirc mode? I was told that you should have recirc turned off if you will be away from your car for a while AND if the inside temp will get hot (due to the summer sun/heat)? If this is the case, should I manually ensure that reciculate is turned OFF when I leave the car?

It doesn't mean anything while the car is parked. I think the gist of what you were told is that when you get into a hot parked car, it's actually beneficial to turn recirc off until the interior is cooled to a more managable temp. Then switch to recirc to quickly bring it down to your set temp.

If it's on recirc right at the beginning, it's sucking in and trying to cool 120+ degree air; switching to fresh means it's cooling 80-90 degree air for the first few minutes.
