STI oil filter

Recommended Posts

Gosh there are a number of thread discussions on oil filters here. Some of the top favorites are Wix, Mobil 1, Amisoil, Napa gold, and Purolater. I use Napa gold or Wix myself. I personally don't know anything about the STI filter but seems pricey. Here's an oil filter study

Are they common? anyone use one? Or know about it?

thanks.

$85 oil filter? Just say no. I've run Purolator Pure 1 (my preference) and Mobil 1 filters on my cars for years and years.

LMFAO $80 oil filter. It must be made of gold. That way I can melt it down and sell the gold and buy a regular filter.

If you must buy the BEST oil filter possible, all you really need is $16.00 for an Amsoil oil filter. With that said, as long as you're changing your oil filter and oil every 4000 miles or less, you're good to go with any respectable oil filter such as M1, K&N, Subaru OEM, PureOne, etc.

well i know ktuned has been making a oil filter set up for honda that is 85 bucks, but its actually a resuable metal mesh screen that u take apart so you can inspect whats goin thru yer oil. you clean it and put it back together and twist it back on.

Personally I would not use a engine oil filter that can be disassembled, cleaned and reused! Too many things to go wrong.

we use them a lot on race cars, so if something fails and its in the oil we can find out what it was and make sure it doesnt happen on our other cars.

Fair call, but neither I or my mechanic have the expertise/time of a racing team, and I would expect the same for most of the regulars here :)

yeah when our cars have to run full out for 12 or 24 hours we want to prevent failures as much as possible.
