croll326
Blasted the red from the grille, paint with cold galvanizing paint and two coats of satin black. Switch out the hardware for stainless steel socket hear cap screws and lock nuts. What do you think? I will try to make an install walk through.....stress TRY
proflatlander15
Nice! Stealthy, but the SS screws give it some flair.
Code
Nice. I stealthed mine last year but the winter has corroded the hardware. The stainless is a nice touch. "Striving to better, oft we mar what's well." - Bill Shakespeare - car modder

BAC5.2
I thought about painting mine, but you can BARELY tell anything is amiss unless you are looking for them. I think the bracket was key. I used a piece of 1/8" steel painted wrinkle black (all I had in my toolbox). I also mounted my bracket straight cross, bolting it to the AC condenser mounts, as well as the vertical radiator support. That way, no matter what, the horns can't flex into the condenser and put a hole in it like all the WRX guys are having problems with. I really should have taken install pics, because it's a pretty great mounting method. I probably will take pics next time my bumper is off, and I install 4 more horns with revised wiring. http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii287/bac52/Mobile%20Uploads/3372e4b0.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii287/bac52/Mobile%20Uploads/fb18156c.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii287/bac52/Mobile%20Uploads/cc123fc9.jpg Flip Key Development Thread "Genius may have its limitations, but stupidity is not thus handicapped." - E. croll326
finished product... I used a 1" wide x 10" long by 1/8" thick aluminum bar to mount the horns. I painted it with satin black engine paint and used the hood latch for a mounting point.
BAC5.2
I'd be careful with that mount. Loads of WRX guys are having to replace their A/C condensers after their supertones flex into them at speed and put holes in them. I used the same hole you did, but had my bar (which was steel, not aluminum) span over to the condenser mount. Where the condenser mounts to the support brackets, I used longer bolts, through my bracket, and through the factory support and into the core. If the horn mount flexes, it simply moves the condenser. No chance of rubbing. croll326
O jeez....thats not good. Maybe Ill double up the thickness to a 1/4" thick. That would be ok i think. Can you take a pic of what you did?
BAC5.2
I can see if I can get a pic tomorrow morning. Kind of a pita to remove the bumper just for a picture. When I go to 8 horns, I'll probably change the bracket slightly. croll326
Maybe I can get a small piece of angle and notch the ends for the horns....it would be much stiffer.

croll326
I am going to use a piece of bent aluminum plate. It will be much stiffer. I will post pics when I get it.
E-Tank
I've been thinking of getting Hellas. I'd paint the grilles blue to match the ABP. I always like the way they look behind an aftermarket grille. I think it may make my front end a little too "busy" though.
mccorry
Use an angle with notched ends or painted them? Both, actually.
croll326
New mounting bracket....1" x 1/2" x 1/8" thick aluminum angle. MUCH stiffer than a piece of flat bar.
