subarovsky Posted March 21, 2010 Share Posted March 21, 2010 Ok, so my gf curently has a '97 Legacy Outback and she just bought a '98 Legacy GT wagon, both have DOHC and to my knowledge are 2.5's, what I was wondering is, if one of the heads on the '98 turn out to be bad, it overheats when sitting idling, would I be able to salvage a head off the '97?? kaz98gt Posted March 21, 2010 Share Posted March 21, 2010 yes, almost positive. the EJ25 stayed the same for the second generation, with no different modifications between the outback and the gt, and one year apart shouldn't be an issue if it's just the heads. it should be a direct swap.
