No where near as noisy as I was expecting (I had a Nur Spec R on my old STi!), a refined, throaty noise, not boomy and well within euro noise regs. I will try and get some mp3's of it next week for reference.

Cost me the grand total of £385 + £118 Air Freight, worth every penny. :D

I'm probably going to change the entire centre section as it looks awful, can't believe how corroded it is in only 3 months, British weather for you.

I'll drag my camcorder out at the weekend and get some audio, but don't expect the usual rice noises, it's surprisingly quiet and even refined, but it growls when you press the loud pedal! :D

Looks very very tidy, great installation, well done.

BUT.... there is always a but, welcome to the world of steep driveways and that ear piercing noise of beautiful Blitz Cannons scraping on the ground....

Hope this doesnt happen but serious, a very sexy setup.

All the best.

Adam.

  • 3 weeks later...

I did a rolling road session last week and the car was only producing 210bhp instead of 245bhp, so I think the drain pipe sized outlets are counter productive.

I haven't noticed it get any louder, but I am quite happy with the way it sounds now, although I am still tempted to remove the resonator.

'rolling road session' = dyno run? If so, 210 at the wheels is respectable and probably higher than stock (stock ratings at the wheels is about 195-205 for the 2.5T). The 245 HP rating is close to what we get here at crank for the 3.0 H-6 and the 2.5 T motors, so I will assume you are stating rated power by Subaru. Nothing to worry about. :D

I think they are 5" tips.

Pat, I wish it was 210 at the wheels, it was 210 at the fly. :(

Ignore the Legacy Turbo bit at the top, it's a Spec B 3.0

A Dyno Dynamics dyno measures at the wheels......unless they unbolted your motor and tested it on an engine dyno, it will always be wheel HP. Your results are spot-on good for an H-6.

Pat,

At the wheels the power was 157bhp, I have two print outs.

Other cars on the day were making slightly under what the owners were expecting, but mine was well down on what the manual says.

Dom,

lol, no don't order two of those, they are Impreza mufflers, they won't fit a Leggy without serious modification.

You will need to email Simon or Anita at info@stiracing.com as I can't seem to find the correct part number here.

Thanks! I was wondering what the heck I was missing. It was the only similiar muffler I saw on their site. Plus, I am a noob.

I think I'll try the same setup, I'll see if I can't get a dyno before and after.
