RMiles87
they ended up costing me 240 shipped. Not bad considering the springs alone would run 300.
d1000rr
Sick! I need to find me some used shocks and springs out of a wrx.
Vascoobiedude
Have you noticed any real ride difference, ie body roll, cornering ability, etc? Thinking of doing sti struts/springs on my '99 wagon...
RMiles87
Not yet, I need to roll the fenders before i can get too crazy with it. I will keep you updated though. Anyone know if any of the major parts store chains rent fender rollers? "napa, autozone, schucks"
Vascoobiedude
Hmmm... Yeah, I run 17's, so not wanting to go low enough to need fender rolling. Perhaps the stock sti springs on the sti struts wouldn't drop as low as yours?
RMiles87
I would assume that they wouldn't. The springs i have are rated to drop a wrx 2" in the front and 1.5" in the rear.
dmanaenk
Looks nice. 2" drop? Don't forget to re-align, or the toe-out will eat your tires in no time.

Thats it. The stock springs should be fine then. Car looks good though! How hard was it to do? Did everything just bolt right up?

RMiles87
beautiful car Thank you. Ahh. Thats it. The stock springs should be fine then. Car looks good though! How hard was it to do? Did everything just bolt right up? It was pretty easy to tell you the truth. Only thing that was different was how the brake line attached to the strut itself. I just jammed the retainer that held it onto the original strut onto the new strut. Also, i had no clue how much of a pain in the ass it is to get to the rear struts. Didn't think i would have to take the rear seat out to get to the nuts.
Vascoobiedude
HAHAHAHA!!!! My girl just leaned over my shoulder, read your last post, and said "I HATE when I have to take your back seat out to get to your nuts, babe!" Wow. Gotta love a subbie chick!! Anyways, yea sounds like this will be the way to go for me. And should be easier, since ive got a wagon.

d1000rr
What parts did you need to do a wrx suspension swap? Did you use your factory top hats or was everything replaced with wrx parts?
RMiles87
everything was replaced. I got them used and they were pre assembled so I just swapped the LGT struts for the WRX struts. Direct bolt in.
dmanaenk
And should be easier, since ive got a wagon. Easier - yes, results are more uncertain though. Legacy wagons have much higher rear spring rate than fornt, and slapping sedan springs will mostly likely cause a saggy back.
RMiles87
Im going to try the baseball bat fender rolling method tomorrow. I cant afford to spend 200+ on a fender roller right now... Hopefully it works well.

If not, maybe at least the correct springs. Idk. Thats a good point. Damn...
dmanaenk
sti hatch? Thats 08+, and I might be wrong, but I think they have different suspension design in the rear. Won't fit BG/BK. When I had a BK I got a set of used JDM GT-B strut/springs off ebay and was pretty happy with those. Shocks were rebuildable too.
