rubberman
Looks good, but the thing that I don't like is the front bumper gard takes up more that 1/2 the fmic. I would think it would not work to it's potintial hiding behind the bumper bar. Looks good though. Any FMIC on Subies would be partially blocked by the bumper: Perrin, AVO, XO2, etc and they all work fine (of course if there was no blockage at all they could perform even better). Unless I'm misunderstanding what you are referring to by being blocked, it should work fine.

mustangendsley
ya, i really don't know much about the fmic. I see that all of them are partialy blocked, but not that much. most of the fmic are longer and shorter. but that may just be me seeing it diff. I will post the pictures when I get back. Thanks again for the intall Bryan! To everyone who purchased this FMIC, IT FITS JUST FINE! NO MAJOR MODIFICATIONS REQUIRED! I'm not sure if i mis-read/misunderstood, but there is a little bit of cutting/trimming required. I think my misunderstanding come from "No trimming on the re-enforcement. There are 2 small sections that needed to be cut off and the bumper needed some trimming (on my 06 at least). After that, everything fitted just as Bryan said it would. Took about 2.5 hr for everything. Bryan has pix of what needs to be cut/trimmed.

When I saw how low his core was I knew what to do. This is what I posted earlier that you have to trim. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u156/itsmebryan/P1060287.jpg If you pipes are hang too loo this is what you have to trim like this on both side. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u156/itsmebryan/P1060289.jpg You dont use those bolts any because you cut the tray. Now look how much higher the pipe sits. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u156/itsmebryan/P1060290.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u156/itsmebryan/P1060293.jpg If your pipes are outside of the hooks you have to trim the thin tabs I showed you above. Thanks Brian for an awesome easy setup. omnicron
Finished installing mine. More cutting than I expected but not as bad as any else on the market. Since it is my first major "install" done by myself and hifonic it was tough going but doable. I need to try to clean up the clamps and tubes a little better. It was getting late and tiredness brings sloppiness. Not realizing I had to cut a little on that front metal part took me a few hours to deal with. Ill post pictures when I have a chance... MonkeyHermit
For the metal part you have to cut, can you use tin snips to cut it or it has to be a saw? Do you think bending it up out of the way would work?

My IC is pretty touching the pipe (inside the couplet) .If you put your front plate on, you might not notice it as much?

m sprank
You can use snips, a dremel with cut off wheel, a saw + hammer, what ever. The metal is pretty thin. Both my cores are about 1/2" off center. But my pipes touch the core inside the couplers. You can not see it without a measuring tape.
m sprank
I lay claim to the rights of "first LGT with FMIC and OEM airbox" EVER! I should get a friggin plaque or something. I have searched and searched and I can not find a single LGT that has ever used a FMIC and the OEM airbox. Plus I have my fogs and an unmodified front bumper. I think I should get a gold medal at an awards ceremony similar to that which Han and Luke received for saving Leah and the galaxy from the dark force. I should get a kiss from Leah too. I really hope this is just an issue with how far the pipes are pushed into the couplers. Bryan is there a remote possibility the '05's could have a fitment issue that the '07+ don't? I didn't think there was a significant difference beneath the bumper (other than the pump)? ProjectSega - when you say 'a little to the left' how far are we talking here? 'cause if it's anywhere near where naserge's is there is no way I'd be able to live with it. In for more installed pics...

Did You trim the metal tab on both sides. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u156/itsmebryan/P1060287.jpg Once you trim it like this. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u156/itsmebryan/P1060289.jpg Now the pipe comes up more and moves to the right. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u156/itsmebryan/P1060290.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u156/itsmebryan/P1060293.jpg. From the 2 kits that were a bit off. That was the problem. So if you have fitment problems just cut off the metal tabs. Because if the driver side pipe is off it throws the whole intall off. brooklyngenius
holy smokes this took me forever to install yesterday. does fit snug though. so snug that when i tightened the bumper beam back up it pushed the intercooler so tight it bent the radiator support behind it and now I have to slam my hood to shut it. useless signature line where i cant mention my sponsors "First Bagged BL5!" mattg
Anyone elses bov flange in the wrong spot? I think I can make it work by unbolting the tube from the back of the intake manifold, but I wasn't expecting to have to. Installing the j-pipe and the lower drivers side pipe wasn't too fun, and I'm not too stoked at how those 2 pipes come together. Right now the coupler is touching my hood liner when I shut the hood. Edit - BPV hose works fine once you take out the bolt. And after I trimmed + carefully bent up the pinch weld on the drivers side the pipe goes up and mates better. I think the coupler barely touches the hoodliner but I'm ok with it.
