Guest
The BL Legacy and it's Outback cousin were Subaru's biggest failures to date. They were a departure from Subaru's formula that made them cash rich through the late 90's early 2000's. Based on sales goals, they are a bigger flop than the SVX, Tribeca, or the Baja. Stinky SOA-narrow minded bs. Maybe in the U.S, but they were hits in Japan (particularly, oh noes, Legacy wagon) and far more popular in Europe than any other previous generation. Also, had the diesel been available since the introduction it would have sold way better in Europe. The new behemoth is likely to reverse the situation. The end result might not be much better if at all. The world is not just the U.S., pal.
The B4
Unclemat... you are wrong. The BL was a sales failure globally. In 2008, Subaru sold 223,000 cars total in non US markets(not counting kei cars) and 188,000 in the US. Almost half of all passenger cars were sold in the US. The Legacy and Outback are globally not volume models compared to the other vehicles. Last Year Australia sold13,753 Foresters (best selling SUV of any type in Australia for the year)12,268 Imprezas (sales record)5,548 Legacy (roughly 1/3 more than what Subaru sells for just a month in the US)3,716 Outbacks1,221 Tribecas The Legacy was up 89.2% for the fourth quarter in Australia. The Legacy sold double expectations out of the gate in Japan. The point being that your post is based on what you feel and not in reality. Guest
Post BL/BP numbers from Japan (and earlier years) before you claim it was a failure. Besides, who cares if they succeed selling a mobile appliance... I don't have stock FHI so I couldn't care less. All I care about is there is one brand less on the market that I would consider buying (well, GR STI is an option, although between the cheapness of the car and glass pistons and shitty tune is not a very appealing buy). The B4
why does the mobile appliance handle, brake and accelerate better from a roll than the outgoing car? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Guest
why does the mobile appliance handle, brake and accelerate better from a roll than the outgoing car? I doubt it does when compared to JDM BL/BP version, not the bastardized USDM edition. Anyhow, can you show us some numbers that prove BL/BP was a worldwide failure? The B4
Post BL/BP numbers from Japan (and earlier years) before you claim it was a failure. I'm so nice... i even made you a graph! JDM Sales only. Japan combines Legacy and Outback. Years are fiscal year ending March 31st of that year. (2009 results are results ending March 31st 2009). http://i46.tinypic.com/2qbx3b4.jpg http://i46.tinypic.com/1zyinls.jpg BL peaked in its first year and then died an inglorious death. The B4
For giggles... USDM and ROW (not including JDM or USDM) ROW http://i45.tinypic.com/332b0xu.jpg http://i49.tinypic.com/axogx.jpg USDM http://i50.tinypic.com/255kzfr.jpg http://i47.tinypic.com/qqsu1s.jpg [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
The B4
I doubt it does when compared to JDM BL/BP version, not the bastardized USDM edition. The USDM Legacy has always been a lesser car to the JDM version. So it only makes sense to compare a USDM BM to a USDM BL. The USDM BL was a bastardized version of the JDM and ROW model as well. mrjtree
It is encouraging to see sales increase despite recall #3 for my '10 Legacy GT. So far, mine did not need any parts replaced or otherwise in the first 2 recalls. However, this one is more serious because a stop sale order was issued for '10-'11 Legacys and Outbacks with a 6-speed manny tranny. http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/07/23/subaru-recalls-outback-and-legacy-for-transmission-problem/ http://www.insideline.com/subaru/outback/2011/2010-2011-subaru-legacy-and-outback-recalled-stop-sale-order-issued.html
