justchil
Hey guys I'm having a time finding the right wastegate actuator for this turbo I got to replace my blown vf40. I picked up a used 08 wrx td04 turbo... This one has the flange to bolt to the tmic like the vf40 did. Well my buddy had a td04 off his older wrx (same exact turbo except there is no flange). The actuator doesn't match up bolt wise to the turbo I have. So I ordered another used actuator for a td04 and the same thing. The bolts are close... but they just don't fit right. I can get one bolt through the the other is like 1/2 off. I'd really like to find something that fits but if all else fails I'll drill my own hole in the actuator. johnAWD
Can you modify the bracket, and subsequently adjust the actuator arm? How far off are the bolt holes?
Ridgeracer
Man i hope that was a free turbo. A little smaller than the VF40.. "Gimme mines Balboa...Gimme mines".....Clubber Lang - Mr. T
justchil
The bolt holes are about 1/2 inch off. I can drill a hole in the bracket... I just hope if I do this the arm will have enough travel to pop the wg fully open. At the time I thought I was getting a hell of a deal on a vf52... So no it wasn't free but still a decent deal lol. I had to get something fast so I didn't have a lot of choices
johnAWD
In that case, sell it and find yourself a proper turbo.
GTTuner
Drill it! If I recall correctly the arm is threaded on the TD04 for adjustment.
justchil
Well I need the car running because it's my DD... I don't really care about the power loss right now (I'll get a vf52 sometime next year). The turbo bolts up 100% perfect too. I checked both my WGA's and if I drill a hole for the lower mounting bolt then the arm is WAY off. I would rather not bend and rig this up... surely there is a difference in the td04's and I can find the right WGA I guess if all else fails I'll get another turbo... but I'm going to have to sell this one and the next person may run into the same problem :\
justchil
Here is a photo of both (trying to sell them now lol) They are identical other than the nipple was bent some on the more dirty actuator. http://justchil.net/gallery/Misc/100_5901.JPG

apexjapan
The 08 WRX turbocharger uses a actuator that's unique to that year model alone - no other actuators from other turbochargers will fit up to it. We had to create a new bracket for that turbocharger that's exclusive to that year/model alone. We just finished getting the bracket made for the 08, then found out Subaru changes it the next year.
