snow05gtRI
and apply scalar and latency values the last person tuned them for, does that make them work for my car? basically - buying used injectors, person says they will give scalar and latencies they tuned their car with, i dont tune myself but my tune is OS and i can probably figure out where the numbers go after i download my map and open it in RR (i have downloaded it before, so i know that step). does this only work if i had the same fuel pump? NSFW
That will probably work, or at least get you close. However, without a wideband O2 sensor to verify your AFRs at full throttle, it's impossible to know for sure how close (or how far off) the settings are. If the person you're getting them from has the exact same air intake and MAF housing that you have, then the odds of success go up. In that case I'd do the following: 0) Using Learning View to see what your AF Learning values are, and the knock correction table, and the IAM. 1) If those aren't healthy, stop here. 2) Log several pulls, 3rd gear, 2500rpm to redline 3) Look at the logs and see how much you're knocking 4) If the answer is "in every pull" then stop here. 5) Install injectors 6) Set latency and scaling as per the seller's specs 7) Drive around, without getting into boost. 8) Verify the AF learning again. If not acceptable, stop here. 9) Log 2500-3500 at WOT, check for knock. 10) Repeat, working your way up to redline, checking for knock with each step. It would take a while, but if you get to where you can do WOT pulls without knocking (or with negligible knock) then the exact AFR isn't that important. I can explain terms like "acceptable" in more detail if you're interested in actually doing this. If you're going to be modding your car, you owe it to yourself to learn to log anyway. It's the only way to know if your engine is healthy. It's OK to trust your tuner, but only if you verify.
snow05gtRI
thank you for the explanation, it is very much appreciated. if i make the jump and buy the injectors I will come back for your more detailed explanation.
Boostin1657615274
I think it would be valuable to know your learning values on your current tune before you install new injectors. It gives you something to compare. Even completely stock cars will have some level of A/F correction to account for normal changes in the weather and in the engine. On the search for a new DD... yamie700
Got a link for this process on RR? +1, when I've done injectors I just adjust latency, scalar, and tip in. What else is needed?
