ndmx52 Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 One of the coolest videos I've ever seen! This guy is local to me and I've met him before. Very cool and this car is awesome! Watch and enjoy! Gire Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Good show. Nice camera work and music. I think SuperStreet mag is putting together a big turbo old school Civic wagon right now. It's the late 80's lunch box just like that one.
theGeneral Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Serious sleeper. And ugly and still a Honduh.
KurtP Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 1990 awd turbo wagon civic, that is....i never knew this thing even existed. turbo motor, awd, 6spd...and i need one. http://www.wagonattack.com
TrueWhiteBoy Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Hahaha, I wish I could watch it with sound, but that's pretty damn awesome.
KurtP Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 yeah watch it with sound.... i never knew they made that thing. Little ls/vtec/turbo motor swap and you are hauling ass at only 2600lb's. Next one i see in the local paper with controllable rust issues is mine. Wife will have to find out about visa vi seeing it in the driveway. sell her impreza wagon and give her the legacy
KurtP Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 just made this thread in other cars, didnt see this one. Next one i see for sale im buying. full of win.
airborne200208 Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 I love that video. Makes me wish I still lived in WI so I could head over to the dunes. UGH Alaska blows sometimes. <-----HONDA SERIAL KILLER-----> RIP JHMEH6160RS006479 RIP 1HGCD5650VA021631 RIP JHMGD38688S015633
Gire Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 MERGED! ...Kurt's thread in to the original thread on the same topic created earlier today.
KurtP Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Are they factory turbo? or just factory awd/6speed and he added the turbo?
tito_b0y Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 $1K!? That would make for a nice little project toy/beater. 2006 SWP 3.0R 5EAT VDC BBQ 2008 OBP 2.5i 4EAT BBQ [RIP]
airborne200208 Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Pretty sure they are not factory turbo. I think the RDX from Acura was the first factory gasoline turbo vehicle from Honda <-----HONDA SERIAL KILLER-----> RIP JHMEH6160RS006479 RIP 1HGCD5650VA021631 RIP JHMGD38688S015633
MiniStiGuy Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Pretty sure they are not factory turbo. I think the RDX from Acura was the first factory gasoline turbo vehicle from Honda You are correct. The RDX was the first "production" factory turbo motor produced by the Honda corp. sactojesse Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Are they factory turbo? or just factory awd/6speed and he added the turbo? Just AWD and 6 speed, no turbo. The Civic wagon w/ "real time" AWD was available in the late 1980s and early 1990s. If I recall correctly, it was FWD-biased AWD.
ndmx52 Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 Yup, Just a realtime AWD civic wagon. The motor is a D16z6 from the 92-95 EX's and Si's (SOHC VTEC) with a custom turbo kit. He really does drive the thing just about every day. I've seen him out and about multiple times. Probably really enjoying the current beat down of lake effect snow we are getting right now.
MiniStiGuy Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 I'd love to buy one of those wagons and swap in my GSR engine that's just sitting in my old hatch OEM HID's Rx330 Retro
KurtP Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 LS block + pistons/rods, gsr or type R head, and an 18g kit and you are hauling some serious ass.
MiniStiGuy Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 18g kit would not be a very streetable setup though so you'd be going no where until you hit 4.5-5k rpms. Of course I guess this would be nice because in casual driving you wouldn't be boosting really so you'd still get some good mileage. Back when I was planning my turbo setup on my integra I was looking at a Precision SC34 which is capable of 300+ and spools around 3k much like our cars and so was more of a streetable turbo which I liked more than going with the SC61 which is a HUGE powerhouse capable of over 600+ but obviously takes longer to get ya going. I had a buddy with a built Type R running the SC61 and he was around 500hp or so and that car was SCARY to be in. OEM HID's Rx330 Retro
KurtP Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Meh, starting the push at 4.5 would be fine considering you are revving over 8k. it would be a larger powerband than what we have on subarus....sure we are making good tq at the 2.5-3k range, but we start running out of steam at 5.5. A lot of people are around here seem like they should have bought some sort of turbo diesel vehicle.....I have no problem letting a car rev that wants to.
S0CalGT Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 You are correct. The RDX was the first "production" factory turbo motor produced by the Honda corp. Perhaps the first factory turbo motor for a car from Honda, but not in general for the masses... there was an early-eighty's motorcycle turbocharged from the factory by Honda: CX500TC http://www.motorcyclemuseum.org/classics/bike.asp?id=33 ... unfortunately, it didn't live long. Regardless, the car in question is definitely a nice project.
E-Tank Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 That was a beautiful little film. I loved it. Thank you.
ndmx52 Posted January 13, 2010 Author Posted January 13, 2010 Is that out at Silver Lake in Michigan? Sure is...
