polatinte
The consumerism that drives people to back into my parked car and drive off. Happened at Fashion Place mall on Saturday. They didn't leave a number or anything. Good old hit and run. It's all aesthetic at least, but I can't stand to look at my car anymore... The dealer's estimate was $600, and they're just going to replace the bumper. The bumper itself is $240 from the dealer, $115 for paint supplies, $165 for paint labor, $60 for install (which is the only thing I could just do myself). I've found numerous cheaper bumpers online, but shipping makes it cost even more than the dealer... Does anyone have suggestions for saving some cash here? Any place that will do a cheaper paint job and still match the rest of my car? Brady
I'd just report it to insurance. It's a comprehensive claim which doesn't raise your insurance with most carriers. Assuming you have comprehensive coverage.
Squiden
I'd just see this as an execellent opportunity to get a JDM bumper.
pre-dent
That is terrible, some people are so disrespectful it makes me sick. You should call the mall and ask if they have any cameras in the parking lot that may have footage of the car hitting yours. With some luck maybe you can even get a license plate number. I will pm you the contact information I have for someone I know that will paint for cheap. They may be able to repair your bumper without you needing a replacement. laz
Check these guys out if they are near you: http://www.colorsonparade.com/Locations/index.cfm That bumper does not need to be replaced, and I could do it for half the price and have it look perfect. Hops
Dude, my pops owns a bodyshop... I thought you knew that! He did the custom bumper work on our Legacys. Your bumper is definitely salvageable. PM me if you are interested. People suck, man... Mall security is whack, too. I want to have a camera system installed on my car to catch people messing with my shit. There's a guy on the forum that has, and he's busted a lot of people! It's pretty funny. Buy my cars! theflystyle
when you say repair you mean sand/buff/repaint right? i dont like the idea of that but the insurance company doesnt want to replace for obvious reasons.
akline5
If you're looking at getting a new bumper, I'd check out certifit... http://www.certifit.com/ they usually have pretty good prices on their stuff. You'd, of course, have to find a paint shop, but they have a vendor in Salt Lake so you could go pick it up and save on some shipping. Check out page 214 of their online catalog and give them a call... Sorry about the luck though!
Hops
Your bumper is repairable. Don't waste your money on a new one. Buy my cars!
polatinte
Alright I finally got around to taking pictures when there wasn't any snow on my bumper. Had Chad's dad do it, and it looks terrific. Thanks for all the input guys.
