PileOfSchwag
so like must of you I am sick of the sub-par stereo..so I want to install a 4-channel amp and 4 infintity kapa shallow mounts..so i have a few questions actually ive installed stereos where you can remove HU and replace with a aftermarket..but i would to keep the stock hu so.The amp im buying is a alpine with Speaker line inputs. SO my first question is To set this up i need to disconnect the factory speakers and splice (sodder) speaker wire to all 8 (+ -) speaker wires then run this to my trunk to the amp? then i have to run speaker wire from the amp to the new kappa speakers correct? Thanks for any help on this i am a NOOB when it comes to this speaker line input/line output converter
timmahh
You might have better luck in the interior/audio forum - there is a FAQ of sound upgrades and tips you'll likely want to see, it's a sticky at the top
PileOfSchwag
yeah i tried that none of the posts address my 2 questions...just need two quick answers
F-WDC Spec B
you dont need a line out converter if you have an amp with speaker level inputs. do you want the easy way or hard way? Easy way can get messy with alota wires. Hard way is cleaner but you need to take apart most of the car.
jaymesbry
Yes take a splice of the wiring for the front and rear speakers run it from the head unit to the amp. AND then make sure you're running an extra set for the speakers. you'll basically splice all the speaker wires off at the head unit and connect the speaker wires to the amp. then you wont have to open up the doors. i hope this makes sense. its hard to describe but as said above, this is the lazy way.. lol
F-WDC Spec B
^I have an easier way that doesnt involve cutting stock wires.

PileOfSchwag
thanks for the replys..the SUB community remains strong...so i definitly about the easy way lol..i saw the posts about removing the head unit and it was for the manual and i have 5eat..but anyways im going to take the doors off anyway to sound deading them..so could i just splice from the doors and run to the amp i realize its going to be hard to hide all the wire but i would rather not take the head unit out if i dont have too.. F-WDC Spec B
i actually dont know.. i bought em use off a wrx guy. to removed the auto center console http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1626&highlight=air+filter Head unit info (thanks SVXdc) http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=749402 wiring http://ae64.com/Legacy-pinout.htm i have forwars and reverse harnesses or you can get them from SVXdc. this will eliminate the need to cut wires. if you dont plan on running new wire and want to risk the stock wire you can use the reverse harness to run wires to the trunk ( or wherever you mount) for the amp and then from the amp to the forward harness. and just replace the speakers. otherwise if you want to run new wire do the same as above but dont run the wires back to the foward harness. run the wires directly to the speakers. The harder way is to remove the seats n panels to hide the wires. (i suffed them under stuff) my setup i use a forward and reverse harness to make a t-connector with an LOC then i have rca's running from the LOC to the amp with my subs in the trunk.
