RIPjeep2002
I have installed a Magnaflow CBE. I am beginning to buy parts to go stg2. I am looking for a DP that mates up perfect to the Magnaflow CBE. I am looking for a catted DP, I want the Subaru to still be a good daily driver without being annoying to my passengers. I drive an 09 5EAT. I was thinking a Cobb Catted DP will be good. Any other suggestions?

RIPjeep2002
Cobb /thread (both use donut gasket/spring bolts) Good. I was hoping for that. Does anyone have sounds bites of a Cobb Catted DP with a Magnaflow CBE?
snow05gtRI
i'd imagine its deep, throaty, and thunderous. the DP will increase drone a little bit, make it a little louder....basically bring out some more rumble in the cabin and outside... scoobydoobie
BTW I've got a Cobb catted DP, ->stock mid/y-> custom magnaflow axlebacks. Pre-turbo is all grimmspeed. I am very happy with the exhaust note, not too loud and no drone on the highway. It may be a good bit louder/drone a bit with the full TBE. scoobydoobie
yeah, not the best quality though: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mvx0hadlDTM&feature=related]YouTube- Legacy GT - custom magnaflow exhaust[/ame]
RIPjeep2002
yeah, not the best quality though: YouTube- Legacy GT - custom magnaflow exhaust That has a nice sound to it. I am thinking since I went with the full TBE, it will be slightly louder and throatier than yours cause of your stock pieces, bit it is nice none the less. scoobydoobie
yeah, I'm going to leave the mid/y as the only stock piece in the system. I'm afraid it would become too loud/droney for me if I replaced that with an aftermarket one
RIPjeep2002
Bump.......I am really close to buying this.... http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=124341 Will it bolt right up to the Magnaflow with that 3" cat at the end, or will I need to buy the adapter kit from Fred Beans? scoobydoobie
might as well buy it to be on the safe side. If you don't end up using it, you can re-sell it on the forum
snow05gtRI
i think the magnaflow is a donut flange, so, no, wont fit perfectly. could jimmy-rig it but leave yourself with leak possibilities
RIPjeep2002
If it is donut flanged, will the fred beans adaptor work? http://www.fredbeansparts.com/servlet/the-2651/3-Inch-Downpipe-to/Detail

You will need the adaptor for a good seal. I'd be all over that DP if I had an AT. It's the only one I go with over a Cobb. Ideally though, you'd mate it to a true 3" catback. I am not worried about the Magnaflow tapering from 3 inches to 2.25 in the back. I am not going past stg2 in this car for fear of the slushbox. The only thing I am confused about is the guy ran it with a twinscroll setup. On AVO's website it lists a different bellmouth for the single scroll although the 2 pictures are the same like my stock vf46 is. I don't know if I will need a different belmouth for this. TravisGT
I have the Invidia catted DP that goes to my Borla CBE. I wasn't crazy about the donut adapter piece so I had a stainless 2 bolt flange welded to my Borla so it would just bolt up. I like it better because it tapers to the 2.5" pipe instead of a 3" pipe smacking down to 2.5" with the adapter. It is a smoother transition. I even have the GT Spec header/uppipe combo and it isn't very loud at all. I like the way it sounds and fits.

Built it with the 2 bolts and made it a 3" flange, then welded it to the borla?
snow05gtRI
chopped off the donut flange on the Borla and welded on a 3" flat flange with a tapered pipe section is what it sounds like.
TravisGT
Pretty much. The end of the mid section that is flared out to go onto the donut gasket is just about 3 inches. I bought the adapter plate thinking I was going to use it but when I put it up to my DP I didn't like it. I used it as a template to make my flat flange. I cut the center out to match the Borla's tapered end and welded it on. I am pretty anal, probably too anal but I liked it better. Plus, I was able to use my buddies machine shop to make everything I needed. I don't know of anybody having trouble with the adapter plate so I would probably just go with that.
