jaxx4k
So i've been shoppping for LGT/white/-30k.. so far 3 weeks nothing.. now Im told my friend is selling his 07/silver /WRX-limited/25k miles for $16.5k (leather,cobb2,indash,air filter, exhaust upgrade), should i even consider..? pros: good price,1 owner car, ok over all in mods & looks. cons: not white,no si-drive, 15/20 hp less then LGT, not as grown up as i want my next 4dr to be. WRX is like a 21-25 of age car. as i think lgt would look right being 28 & trying to keep this car for the next 5 yr. what to do... what to doo....??? king_j
3 weeks of searching is not much. if you get the wrx, everytime you see a lgt on the road you will drool. be patient and get what you want.
BrooklynBoy
I'm sure his mods took care of the HP difference.....the SI drive can be replaced with a much more powerful computing system (YOU) .....the price is probably 4 to 7 thousand less than an LGT------------BUT------------You're instincts are telling you "Don't buy it ". I agree with king_j.........be PATIENT!! (maybe you'll find a great deal on a spec b ) Do it right the first time.........or don't bother doing it at all. Mark34
I went over to the dealership to buy an STi and wound up getting the LGT. The LGT is much more "grown up" (like you are looking for)than the WRX or STi, which is what changed my mind. It has more room, all leather, power everything, decent power and handling. If you're going to spend that much $$$, wait and get what you want.
DCounts
It took me about 8 months to find my LGT. 3 weeks is nothing when looking for a car that you want to own for the next 5 years. Make sure you don't just jump on the first one you find...you may regret it down the road if you don't try to compare.
AkumaMax
3 weeks sounds ok to me. Shoot it took me that long to find an 05 LGT wagon. It's soo hard to find the exact LGT you want and if you do find it I would arrange to look at it A.S.A.P. I went to go test drive my Wagon witch was hard to find and they had 4 offers for the car while I was there.
ConnertheCat
I was looking for a white '07 manual all summer long, never saw a single one COUNTRY WIDE. Ended up with a SpecB...
LosAngelesLGT
Finding the LGT you want? Brilliant! Buying the color you want new from the dealer with ZERO owners: PRICELESS! I am *thrilled* I bought my 05 brand new and I hope you find EXACTLY the model you want. I have had mine for 5 years now and expect to have it another 5!!! Keep a car for TEN YEARS? Well, thats what happens when you get the car you really want. =D Please, don't get a car you don't really want unless it is a STEAL not just a DEAL!!! Example: My future father in law got a new truck and offered me a 2000 Durango (fully loaded) for 1/3 private party blue book... Hard to turn down a 6-7000$ vehicle for under $2000. I *HATE* the Durango but every time I haul my tools, pull my boat or bring my dogs back from the dogpark covered in mud I am thrilled not to be in my LGT... Turns out, the Durango was a STEAL. I seriously doubt that WRX is a STEAL even if it is a fine deal. Best of luck finding that WHITE LGT! LALGT ps - I like the white as much as my blue and blue is my favorite color - those white sure are good looking!!!
RabidWombat
The 07s that were on 3 year leases should start showing up soon. I know the dealers around NorCal are getting more '05 LGTs. I think being patient is a good idea. A secondary consideration, insurance for an LGT is typically significantly less than a WRX. You can call your agent for a quote and see the difference. __raj
I own a WRX(04) and 05 LGT. The WRX does get old really fast with noise and not so nice interior. I love our LGT(wifes) and honestly cannot wait till she trades my WRX for a minivan. Of course she will hand over the keys to our LGT wagon. E-Tank
I looked for 4 months for an 05 manual LGT with less than 45k miles. I found one, but not in the color I wanted. I have grown to love the ABP, though. Color is not going to matter much when the car is everything else you want. LGT>WRX; they are much more rare, much more grown up, much more comfortable...pretty much a better car in most respects. Where it falls short mods can be done to bring up to par. Just my .

I would take my meticulously maintained and cleanly modified 2005 LGT unlimited over any year WRX. The only WRX based car I would drive might be the 2007 STi Limited but I am not even certain about that decision. Alas I am moving to european car next anyways so my opinion is pretty useless, but I do plan on picking up a 2009 Fozzy XT in 2 years or less (and converting it to STi hardware:p)
at7000ft
>>what to do... what to doo....??? I bought a new 02 WRX when they first came out and drove it for 6 years, longest I ever owned a car. But I got tired of the lousy transmission syncros, noise in the cabin, turbo lag (especially with the AC on). It was a great car otherwise and these issues have been taken care of in the 06+ WRXs and because of this I test drove a couple 06 STIs and an O6 WRX but I really wanted something more refined and the LGT was perfect. Took me over a year to find one, many were sold before I could schedule a test drive. I am really surprised that LGTs depreciate as fast as they do with the demand as high as it is.
