Pinouts for 05-06 and 07-09 DRL modules ?

I am probably one of the very few BL/BP owners who still runs with DRL on. Never bothered me to the point where I would actually go and disable them, plus I think it is a nice safety feature. However, I want to get HIDs installed and with that come some thoughts:

 

- I want the HIDs;

- I still want the DLRs;

- I don't want to run HIDs all the time as solution to two items above.

 

So knowing that Subaru moved DRLs to high-beams starting with 07 Legacys, I am wondering whether I could achieve the same by simply swapping the DRL module my car has with 07+ one. I checked online and the parts are different for pre 07 and 07+, so if Subaru didn't change the harness this *should* work. DRL module is ~60$ new and probably can be had much cheaper used. Now I someone could share pinouts for both, that would make finding the answer much easier.

not sure about the modules but one thing you could do is add LEDs and hook them to the DRLs like Audi has. I know somebody modded their ride so DRLs are the fog lights. I'm too lazy to search for the thread.

 

I'm planning on getting HIDs in the near future and would like to mod the DRLs so they light up LEDs. If anybody has done this please help out somebody that's not comfortable with something like that.

SubOperator - Correction. the 07 still uses the low beams for the DRL. I'd like to move it to the high beams too so I can run HIDs so I'm looking for the same info.

why move it to the high beams?

just mod it to be independent fog lights so you can turn them on whenever you want.

hmm, I was damn sure 07 had the DRLs on high beams, but taking that your car is 07 ... Why would the DRL modules be different then ?

 

I have to finally install FAST and look up part ## through the years.

 

At this point I still hope to be able to simply swap modules without doing any harness slicing.

wiring had changed between the 05-06 models and 07 (not sure if it's the same until 09) but they also made other changes such as DRL in 08 i believe

08-09 drl's are the high beam.

I was thinking about this the other day. If I could swap for a newer DRL module, then I could continue to keep my car as OEM as possible when I install my RX330 projectors/HID.

 

I thought there were pinouts in the 'vacation pix'? We'd still need to find the newer pinout, but atleast we'd have the 05.
