Guest
ASSY is better These are actually Bilstein coilovers rebadged by STI and likely done to their specs. I have the original Bilsteins and they are far superior to KWs, which I also had.
Ridgeracer
Unclemat....do you think the helper springs on both units help with small to medium bumps and a row of small bumps.....? terrangama
now the real question, where are you getting those sti's from?
Guest
Unclemat....do you think the helper springs on both units help with small to medium bumps and a row of small bumps.....? No. Helper spring is there solely to prevent the main spring bouncing around when the suspension is fully decompressed (extended, e.g. when jumping over an open draw bridge ). The helper spring is fully compressed under load.
TPLGT
I bet those STI coilovers are $$$$$ Rehab is for quitters.
SubyShop.com
Good luck sourcing a set of those STI ones? I think the KW's would be much easier to purchase and get serviced, if necessary. And, you could get camber plates with them from the get go. The STI win the bling factor though -Franz

Mindspin311
I would recommend the RaceComp Engineering T1's. Many informative threads in the Vendor FS forum.

jamal
KWs. Those sti shocks are most likely a 4-click KYB like the old ones. Not terrible, but not a kw.
Guest
These coilovers have been available since 2005 or so... nothing new (in Japan only).

camber
STI ones are STI tuned bilstien shock IIRC. Unclemat has bilstein coilovers and likes them but I'm not sure what the specific differences in tuning between the two models could be. IIRC, the STI are much more expensive then the plain Bilstein model.
ClimberDHexMods
So it's just a question of how much money do you (the OP) want to spend on coilovers. Guest
KW's. Probably better overall and you can get them serviced pretty easily in the US. Better overall? Far inferior compared to Bilsteins. I had both. And compared them back to back (Bilsteins on one of my LGTs, KWs on the other). The JDM Bilsteins coilovers can be serviced by Bilstein USA no problem. They rebuild two of them for me. KWs are overhyped, overpriced, vanilla shocks in glorified coilover package. They don't suck, they are just mediocre and they don't deserve the price tag. integroid
Holy cow....$3200 for the STi's? Doesn't AST make coil overs for our cars? I just don't see it being worth $1200 better than the RCE Tarmac 1's?
Ridgeracer
Hey thx Unclemat for answering my question. I totally forgot about this thread.
