Bolksey85
Oh, that front end is atrocious! God, it makes me want to kill baby rabbits or something. Ugh, terrible. On a serious note, it's a neat idea but I'm curious how far they can be modded being a direct injection motor. Injector options have to be 0 and if there's any fuel pump upgrades, they must be expensive as sh1t. That's also why I never cared about the MS6. Being the only cars featuring that motor AFAIK, you're kinda limited on aftermarket parts availability. When something like the EJ25 is in 5 or 6 different models, it really opens up parts availability.
Barrok
I saw it in person. I thought it would be like my GR STi, sucky in photos but rad in person... but the MS3 still sucked ass in person. Who designed that crap!
ShrinerMonkey
Not a fan of the new Mazda3 wagon. It looks waaaay too much like a Matrix, which is quite ugly. The interior looks pretty nice though.
IwannaSportSedan
Agreed. One would think that they could figure out how to design a good looking 5-door. Audi A3 isn't bad. But Mazda followed Subaru off that cliff... ironic considering that Subaru copied, then bloated the last gen Mazda 3. The Matrix/Vibe is absolutely hideous, and should have been laughed out of the design studio, I have no idea how that thing made production. spongemonster
Sucks that they took a fairly attractive car and threw enough happy drugs at it to make it look like some Hollywood plastic surgery reject. We may complain about the new Legacy being unattractive but at least it doesn't look like a baked cartoon rabbit going down the road.

JoeFromPA
I'll be the jerk that says it's not that bad looking, IMHO. Also, I think some reality needs to be brought into this thread about the engine. First, it was used in a total of 3 cars: the MS3, MS6, and the CX-7 which is a solid selling SUV. The reliability problems mainly stemmed from bad turbo seals and motor mount issues, both of which AFAIK were fixed in the 2007 model year. The Automatic transmission issues of 2004 were rectified with a new automatic trans in 2005 (this is for the regular mazda 3). The electronic issues were mostly early model, but who knows. Reminds me of the 2005 Legacy and it's various gremlins (how many headlights can we go through!). It's a stout engine that can be fairly easily tuned up to and above 300whp (intake/exhaust/tuning). I don't know what's needed to go above and beyond that. But it's actually not too aggressively tuned from the factory. They were consistently getting 15-25whp from a mazdaspeed-designed intake on the ~2008 models. Opened up downpipes and aftermarket tuning made those cars bonkers. Anything over about 250-275whp on a lightweight FWD platform is raising the question "Why?" Joe
camber
To be fair the CX-7 is not tuned as aggressive as the MS6 and MS3. Mazda boards are littered with blown engines and failed con rods with "higher" performing variants of that engine.
