skatermxracer
so this prob a newb question, and i did search, but couldnt find an answer... i just moved from the impreza community... basically what i'm asking is, i can get a good deal on a 08 spec b spring, strut/shock, top hat combo.... would it be a half decent improvement for my 2.5i? as far as what i'm looking for, somthing semi tight but not harsh... so would this setup plus 22mm front and rear sway bars to be good justice? rtbrjason
I'm not a suspension expert at all, but I believe it would be a solid upgrade while still giving some ride comfort.
F-WDC Spec B
FYI if you do this and your front end will sit higher due to the top hats.
skatermxracer
And if I swap front top hats? It should be alright then, no?
F-WDC Spec B
If you swap to the spec b top hats the front will sit higher. but that can be fixed if you upgrade the springs.
sactojesse
FYI if you do this and your front end will sit higher due to the top hats. I think it will be fine and should be similar to stock height. The OP's getting the whole Spec B set-up, i.e., springs, top hats, and struts/shocks, not putting stock KYB-style springs on Spec B Bilsteins. skatermxracer
Correct, if it was still going to be higher then I should be able to do the spec b struts, and springs with the 2.5i top hats. Or will they not fit the strut
F-WDC Spec B
yea but the stock spec b sits with the front higher then the rear. my rear looks low while my front looks high. kinda baja truck style. Its not a bad thing it just if the op doent want that kinda look then he should get differnet springs. the spec b tops hats are more durable because the for thicker therefore adding some height. F-WDC Spec B
Its all up to you what you do. If you have the time and the equipment try out different combinations till you get it just to your liking.

sactojesse
yea but the stock spec b sits with the front higher then the rear. my rear looks low while my front looks high. Stock BL/BP Legacies sit higher in the front than in the rear regardless of whether they are running Bilsteins or KYB style struts. My 05 LGT wagon had a three finger width wheel gap in front and two finger width gap in back running the stock KYB struts/shocks (same as comes on the 2.5i). When I switched to Bilstein HDs, I had to mix and match springs to get it level (two finger width gap on both): pinks in front and JDM LGT wagons springs in back
skatermxracer
Ok, that's fine, but the setup should work and sit fine? I'm not looking to go too low, as why I'm going with this opposed to eibachs, which seems to be a popular choice to avoid going too low. But I'm not looking for much lowering at all, just a solid, yet comfortable feel.

It should sit exactly as a Spec B, but your wheel gaps might be slightly larger because Spec Bs ran 18 inch rims instead of 17 inch rims.

You could reduce that by going up to a 225 width tire (plus zero). Friends don't let friends drink cheap beer.
aigochamaloh
I'll be doing this next week. Rallitek springs on complete spec.B setup. I am running 225s.
wpmarky
Nice, you should be happy with that setup, I know I am ; ) I would recommend the AVO 20mm sway, it matches really well with the rallitek/bilstein combo I'll be doing this next week. Rallitek springs on complete spec.B setup. I am running 225s.
