tmoney2514
I am trying to direct wire a radar detector using the power from the sunroof on my 03 legacy. There are two buttons, one for tilting the sunroof and one for sliding it open and shut. Both have three wires...The first is black, GREEN and a brown-red color. The other button has a black, BLUE, and a brown-red color. Which one can I tap into to power my detector?
CzarDestructo
None. Those all go to the sunroof motor assembly and control the sunroof. You can't get ground on that side. You need to get your hands on the R50 plug, the 16 pin plug that goes into the sunroof motor. I'm not sure if this is routed with the two plugs that go to the switches. If you find the 16 cable bundle use the white/blue for power, black for ground. Your radar detector will turn on and off with the ignition. tmoney2514
What about trying to tap into my visor mirror power? There are two wires, one is black and the other is striped yellow/red....would either of those wires work?
CzarDestructo
Those vanity mirrors run off fuse 6, the same one your heated seats, should you have them, run off of. Thats 7.5 amps, should be plenty for the tiny draw of a radar detector.
tmoney2514
Ok I will try that. Do I tap into the yellow/red wire or the black wire then?
