stiffest struts.

Recommended Posts

want to stiffen up the ride a lil for better handling. i love the stock ride height tho and want to leave it. So what is the stiffest struts i can throw on to keep it from rolling in the corners? also if you have any ideas on any cheap way to stiffen up the ride let me know. Like if there are some springs that keep stock or only lower it .5 inches i would like to hear, or if i should go with something like a front strut bar and rear anti sway bar let me hear it. thanks for the help.

If you're looking for specifics, we're gonna need the year and model of the car. If you give us this information we may even be able to help you with product links or part numbers. It makes it a lot easier to know what you're looking for.

+1 for the sway bars though, but before we can tell you which ones will fit, or which endlinks would fit, we're gonna need some info about the car. :)

That's a BD! And I would also recommend swap bars. You'd be surprised just how much of a difference they make. For the BD chassis, you're looking at 20mm up front and 16mm in the rear for the sway bar. I would contact someone at RalliTek (or maybe you have a local Scoober shop you like?) and ask them about a sway bar. Good luck!

struts don't really reduce body roll. They might slow it down or speed it up, but the springs and swaybars are what create roll resistance.

I have sti suspension, whiteline 22mm adjustable swaybars, and a few other things. It's pretty fun.

Yeah, and if you did gets struts that reduce body roll, ride quality would go straight down the drain. Plus, struts, especially performance oriented ones, are extremely expensive and a bit harder (Well, more time consuming anyway) to install than a pair of sways.

Sway bars seem like just the ticket for your situation.

Would this work for the bk as well?

As far as I know, yes. The only difference between the sizes from what I've read is between the Legacy sedans and the Outbacks or Foresters. Outbacks and Foresters have a thicker mm than the Legacy sedans but CAN still be used with minor modification.

sway bar is what you're looking for, not shocks. Springs might help a little too, but really only after you have a stronger bar. Springs will just add to the steering response that the swaybars provide. Also remember, stiffer does not mean faster.

So do these cars favor a large rear bar then? My M3 LOVES a big bar up front, but the max you can go in the back before you get wheel lift is around 24 mm. The rear bar on my subi is hilarious... I thought it was a brake line or something at first glance.

It appears that way. And the differences between the larger front on a BMW compared to a Scoober is most likely the RWD and AWD. However, that's just a hunch. And yeah, the stock sway bars on the Legacys are pretty thin. I can see someone mistaking it for a liquid line of some sort. :)
