CCSubaru
Anybody else feel like just because us 2.5i owners dont have a high HP engine anything we do to make it look better feels llike ricing? Im 17 and personally don't mind ricing but sometimes gets annoying when STi people act like i own a civic for putting stickers on my car
05lgt5spd
whatever floats your boat dude. I wouldnt go about putting on a cherry bomb, a three stage spoiler, or curb finders. Then you will get made fun of.
katalyst
i think it just depends on how you portray that image, just be subtle and tasteful with your mods most 2.5i owners on here have decent rides it seems, looking at the "what does your non-turbo legacy look like" thread
GEE-OTTO
LGT guys want to look like 2.5i for the super sleep style. But our cars are hot fire I love my 2.5i yes i would like the power of the LGT but I enjoy the cheaper insurance. And you can pretty much look, sound, and feel like an LGT with a 2.5i. LGT guys will come in here and tell you that youre a ricer and you blow but respond simply with: " MISS ME WITH THAT DUMB SHIT" sorry mods and the swear thingy
KurtP
man the 2.5i is still a sweet car that can still make some good power, handle and ride well, and be a great street car. Nothing wrong with making it look better. act like i own a civic for putting stickers on my car but that makes me nervous.....
Gmoe
^ This.. If you're sticking STi stickers all over your car, they would have a bit of a point in my opinion. But in the end...do what makes YOU happy with your car. Some people will think it looks dumb....and maybe it does....but if you like it, that's all that really matters. Just know that some people will break your chops about it. What have you done to the car that people call rice?
icy
I would say you get to add tint, and better looking rims. Past that point you should have just tacked on the extra $3K for a GT.
ShockerGT
I enjoy the cheaper insurance. My insurance actually went down when I switched from an 05 2.5i to an 05 LGT.
N.sane
What stickers are on the car? It's hard to justify getting a GT in Canada since it's a $10,000 difference
CCSubaru
i dont have any STi stickers so no worries about that... i have a legacygt.com sticker on bottom right of my back window and a yokohama sticker on bottom left
Jerboa113
its never rice to make a car look BETTER or to put stickers on it of some brands that yo may like, but if you start puttnig SUPA RACING OMFG SO FAST OIL and SUPERIOR BETTER THAN YOU ADD 10HP BRAKE FLUID stickers on the car you've gone too far. also, aftermarket exhaust.. period.. imo is over the line. No one wants to hear it. but I think that way about my car as well, and most other cars on the road heh. dease42
Rice is in the eye of the beholder... If it's tasteful (subjective) and stylish (subjective), then it's all good. It's when it gets ridiculous (3 foot wings, STi badges on a civic, etc...) that I start laughing. If you're trying to represent something you don't have, you will get made fun of. I don't think any of us can *really* say too much...ricers become enthusiasts when they get a real job and a real car (Let's not talk about the slammed B2200 I had in high school) Personally, I got more comments on the 2.5i I had then the new GT I have now, it's a very stylish car, turbo or not. Underdog
If it's "race inspired" on Legacy (GT or i) that doesn't actually race, it's rice. Plain and simple. There are cosmetic enhancements that are non-rice: tint, wheels, cleared headlights, etc... When you start adding spoilers, 10,000K HIDs, BOVs, painted calipers, stickers... that's when you are entering rice territory. However, if the total package is cohesive and tastefully done, I can appreciate it, even if it isn't my style. A bigger is the fact that you are 17 with a brand new '08 Legacy. How'd you swing that? hutru01
A bigger is the fact that you are 17 with a brand new '08 Legacy. How'd you swing that? Yeah no kidding! I had a 1984 Honda Accord when I was 17 at that was in 1996. As for the topic, I mean like most have said, do what makes you happy. But I do think their is a fine line between tasteful and ricey. If I had a 2.5i, I wouldn't display as if it was fast. You are just asking for it. Keep in my that this is just my opinion. I am not hating on any 2.5i owner if they decide to install cold air intake or catback exhaust. Tasteful Mods for a 2.5i Rims/Tires Suspension/Braking Mods Subtle aesthetic mods (grill, lip spoiler, etc) (This is where that fine line comes in) Audio (subwoofer/components/amps) 4300/5000K/6000K HIDs Small stickers (nothing extravagant here that will draw unecessary attention) Ricey (otherwise useless and a waste of money) Mods for a 2.5i Ridiculous Body kits Grocery cart spoilers HIDs above 6000K Engine performance mods (CAI, CBE, etc) Over-the-top stickers (especially STi stickers)

thebigevilfoot
The 2.5i is just as sexy as the GT, you can always put on nice rims, lower it and put on a small (SMALL) spoiler, it'll only enchance the visual appearence of the car and won't look ricey. massdrewski
I swear. If I see another Subaru legacy in the O-town area, Im going to spray paint rice all over it!!!! Especialy after getting my hair cut at Ramzies! Don't let them get at you. remember. the chances of you getting pulled over are next to nil. I have been pulled over 4 times since buying my car. and all 4 times they have yet to mention that I still do not have to required front licence plate. it is hanging out over my Computer right now on the wall. "EJ25" baby. These cars are classy, fun to drive and reliable. remember that. This is not your average Accord or camry. you actualy need common sense and taste to buy a legacy. And Chris. when it came time to go snowboarding up north every weekend this past weekend. Whos car did they suggest becouse it handled sooo much beter in the snow an ice than their Camry? the legacy hands down. and when it came time to switch drivers. Whos face had the bigger smile on it when he was driving through 6 inches of snow? My friend who said the camry is better in every way....that smile paid for it 100 fold. Long story short. It is your car. do what you want and enjoy it! you are the driver!

Jerboa113
...ricers become enthusiasts when they get a real job and a real car Very true, well said +1, but a lot of those people never get a real job or a real car.. they're left with a $500 civic with peeling paint and purple bubbling window tint, broken primered body kit and a rusted sideways fart tip, mismatched rims and a tach on the steering column that doesn't work and they STILL think they're the fastest thing on 4 wheels. Past that point you should have just tacked on the extra $3K for a GT. +1 I tinted, put in a short-shifter, & put on a 1/2-hood vinyl mask. Rice or nice? It's your call; I think nice. Will post photos so you can be the judge. Bottom line: It's your car, do what you will. Just don't do something because only because you think other people will think it's cool.
