Perrin713
Looking to buy some front rotors for my LGT. I dont need anything fancy. Just sick of buying rotors from the subie dealer for 120$ per rotor and hitting a pot hole warping them. So, I want to order some off the ole internet. Any help would be great, thanks! ScoobySTi07
Well if you just want cheap rotors there is always Autozone, Pepboys and the like but I can't vouch for their quality. If you want a better performing rotor for the same price as OEM there are a number of brands I can recommend. Just out of curiosity how heinous was this pot hole that it warped your brake rotor and do you still have a wheel and tire left not to mention any semblance of front suspension? I’m afraid that I’ve never heard of a rotor being damaged by a pole hole without some other kind of serious damage being done to the car. The Ridiculousness is no more But you can have your very own piece of it. **The Ridiculous Part Out.**
schwinn
^ +1... rotors don't warp because of potholes. For that matter, rotors don't warp usually anyway... it's usually pad deposits that cause vibration during braking (due to cheap brake pads). Incidentally, I've used AZ rotors for years on many vehicles, and never had a problem...

JoeFromPA
Rotors can warp from severely improperly torqued lug nuts. Almost every shop will over-torque the shit out of your lugnuts, so it's not surprising to find from time to time. A reputable import tuner around here did my last tire swap on my 2006 Civic SI. Guy's been in the business for like 20 years and has articles out the wazoo on his various engine builds, etc. He personally swapped my tires. Now, 6k miles later, my lug nuts are impossible to move with any hand tool based solution. I've stomped on a tire iron, leveraged the crap out of it, and caused myself muscle strain a few times. No budging. Torque your lugnuts, and everyone will be happier. Including your rotors. Joe
c-lo
Thanks Waxiboy!! these are about to be shipped back, so if you want them you better get in touch with me! check this ad http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=118504 258k miles - Stock engine/minor suspension upgrades/original shocks/rear struts replaced at 222k/4 passenger side wheel bearings/3 clutches/1 radiator/3 turbos
Perrin713
Well, i've had problems with the front rotors on my car for ages now. I had a seized front right caliper which was replaced then I put a new rotor on that side. Might of been the cheap pads? Was using higher end Duralast.... But since bought some pretty decent pads. So... I know its my front right rotor. I put the brakes on and it shakes hard to dives to the right..... How good are these Centric rotors? Better than Duralast rotors from AZ? ronemus
Check out http://store.r1concepts.com/store/search.aspx?key=av09874&submit=Search. E-line slotted rotors and PosiQuiet pads are good performers at a reasonable price. I got the slotted rotors more for the plating (no rust) than any performance benefit. The PosiQuiet pads have good bite and fade resistance (better than the Hawk HPS they replaced) at a price similar to bottom-end parts store pads. I've got about 3000 miles on them now and couldn't be happier.

I, personally, have not seen this happen on any of the vehicles I have worked on (7+ models). I used to do the torque-wrench method, but I have not done this in a long time since it seems I'm not having problems with my cross-lugwrench. I am certainly putting more torque than the torque wrench dicates, but it's not gorilla-strong (I am no gorilla!) That said, I have seen many shops improperly use torque wrenches or even just an impact wrench for the lugs... and I certainly won't ever do that. In the end, these are some of the many reasons I try to do all the work on my car myself... even if it can be frustrating and time consuming! iNVAR
I've heard the same thing about extremely overtightened lug nuts causing actual warpage (not pad deposits) on rotors. The stoptech article also says the same thing: http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_warped_brakedisk.shtml And people on another forum for my last car said the same thing. M3 Adjuster
Found Wagner rotors at Advance Auto for 65$ for lifetime war. hmm.. may check these out... Autozone had nothing for my car.... no rotors at all. O'Reillys had a set for $101 apiece but they had to be ordered. I'll try Advance or go with Fred Beans
magnetic1
Lifetime warranty is great and all, but do you really wanna bother with replacing them, bringing them back to store, getting exchange, re-installing, etc? Our rotors are priced VERY competitively, and have been used/tested on track and street. We've NEVER had anyone complain about them since we started selling them. Plus you get the "slotted" aesthetics and minor prevention of glazing of cheaper pads, which ultimately causes what most think are warped rotors. Free Sonax Cleaner Deal http://www.brakeswap.com Carbotech, Hawk, PFC, DBA Rotors, Motul, Wilwood, Castrol... Great service. No bumping required ! My duralast I bought a year ago, life time war. brought them back. Said they were the wrong pads someone sold me!!!!!!! Then said we can't even get pads for your car here. GREAT!!! Then I'm like well.... can I get my money back or something.. they are life time warr. He then explains I never purchased them there because they didnt have my name on file there. So I will never purchase anything from them again.
M3 Adjuster
Sorry to hear this Perrin... I have NO affiliation with Autozone, but I have bought lots of stuff there. All of their customer history is based on phone #s. Did you change phone #s? Change cel phones (or go to cel only) and perhaps your ph# changed? They can look up transactions back to seemingly forever with your phone #. Even if someone else got the same ph # that you had, and then their name overwrote your name, your purchases can still be tracked by the phone #. If you have not thrown everything out, I would recommend you stop back by, ANY Autozone location.. does not have to be where you purchased the pads.... I bought Wagner rear pads for my Legacy 5 months ago at O'reilly (in stock, no problem) and then when I went back last weekend to get fronts, they no longer sell Wagner, and can only order some off brand of front pads... SKUs and models change at any company. Hope this helps..
Perrin713
Ya, I tried 4 diff number. My cell, dads, brothers, and our house phone. And they said I never bought them there. Which really gets me is them selling me the wrong pads and using them for about 6 months and having brake prolems and it turns out its the wrong pads lol

ronemus
I bought my rotors and pads from R1 Concepts at http://store.r1concepts.com/store/ for my '02 LGT. I got four slotted rotors for $178, more for the anti-corrosion plating than any performance benefit. Unplated blanks can be had for $105. PosiQuiet semi-metallics are a great street pad at a bargain price ($78 for all four corners); they have more bite than Hawk HPS pads, showed no fade after eight 60-5 mph stops in quick succession, low dust that wipes off easily, and no noise or other bad habits. R1 Concepts' delivery was quick and they're good to talk to, responding quickly to e-mail or 'phone messages.
